Congrats! I know how hard the waiting can be when you have spent years together! Enjoy a few weeks of showing off your ring before you start planning cuz from my experience...the planning process is not as fun-filled as you expected as a little girl haha.
Thanks all! Luckily we have "experts" in the family to help. His mom is currently an interior decorator but is a fantastic planner and his godmother is a phenomenal caterer who does weddings all the time (so she knows the best vendors, venues, etc).
Trying to get started earlier rather than later so we can at least see/book a venue before the weather turns cold. We want to be get married in Maine. We've got a preliminary guest list already as well as our attendants picked out (luckily the numbers match!).
We're both excited about this process. I look forward to chatting with/learning a lot from all of you!

Awww thats such a sweet proposal. Mine was low key too and when youre that kind of couple its perfect!! Congrats and I hope you enjoy every second of being engaged!

I've been browsing these boards on and off for the past week or so because I had a feeling my boyfriend (now fiance) was thinking of proposing.
We've been together 6 1/2 years (and living together for 3) so I've been hoping for this for a while. Well, it finally happened and it was more wonderful than ever.
He took me out to dinner on friday night to a place I've wanted to go for a while, dinner was amazing. Then, on our walk home, he got down on one knee and proposed an a park near our apartment. There was a fountain going and everything. It was romantic, personal, low key, and perfect for us.
Even better is that I walk through this park every day to and from work and it makes me smile every time. Then we had the WHOLE long weekend to enjoy/celebrate with friends.
We're aiming to get married next August so I feel like I have to jump right in to planning.
