My partner of 4 years finally proposed a month ago and as we have just purchased a house I’m looking at purchasing a moissaniteCo ring over a diamond. I have a pair of moissanite earrings and I really like it’s fire and brilliance (over a diamond) especially when it’s so much cheaper.
SO… what I’m looking at is the
wed593a or eng222a (1.8mm band) over the smaller band width version wed513b or eng178b (1.4mm band) as I think the rings will hold their shape better being that bit thicker.
I want a 1.5ct (7.5mm) amora center stone and the ring in white gold (I have heard it’s less brittle than palladium).
My two major concerns that I’m asking Bees to give me their insight on is
1. will the untreated moissanite side stones against the amora center stone look silly? I can upgrade the side stones to diamonds at a cost of around $450 but I’m unsure if it’s necessary.
2. Is the band too thin still at 1.8mm (I don’t do any manual work and I’m fairly careful) and will the setting be annoying (stick out too much, catch on things etc).
Your insight on the above is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

Oh YAY one bee was kind enough to post some pics! I just hope going with the 1.8mm over the 1.4mm was the right choice!!!
Any comments, opinions and insight is much appreciated as mentioned above! ox

First of all, congratulations on getting engaged! Such exciting times ahead 🙂
Unfortunately I can’t help you with the untreated moissanite vs diamond. But the band should be totally fine! Most women have anything from a 1.3 to more than 2mm band. 1.8 is beautiful and dainty and will be completely fine 🙂
And just one more thing, you know there’s a waiting list for the amora moissanite? I think it’ll take a couple of months for them to be completely restocked. You may not have to wait as long as they’re processing 7.5mm ones first and then moving onto the other sizes. But just thought I’d let you know in case.

Thank you Miss Lala ^_^ I think 1.8 is still dainty but that little bit more sturdy.
I was going for a 1.25 with the thinner band but as I was told I should go for a thicker band I then increase the center stone to a 1.5. Fingers crossed it looks good!
The wait list for amora stones is crazy but as I’ve been hounding MoissaniteCo about stones/rings for over a year now (I’m a planner can you tell) they contacted me that they have a 1.5 amora stone they can set for me 🙂 Very happy!
I’ve only found the following pics of the version with the 1.4mm band:

1ct Amora. We bought it loose and Fiance had the setting custom made. It’s hard to see the detail.

@PugsandUnicorns: WOW that’s beautiful!!!!! The setting is gorgeous.
Do you notice any colour in your amora stone? 1ct looks big on your finger so I’m guessing you are tiny (im 5’10 and my finger size is 6.25-6.5).
Are your side stones diamond or untreated moissanite?
Thank you for sharing ^_^

Hi Neela! Actually yes I have weirdly tiny fingers- 4.75 is the size and it’s a bit big.
the side stones were all diamonds from family jewelry- literally my entire family made this ring happen- the millgrain and engraving was done by a local jeweler- perhaps you can see it a bit better in this photo.
as for the stone coloring- it’s ‘fooled’ everyone in that, everyone think’s it’s gorgeous- no one’s asked i’ve not told anyone- aside from the close friends who knew why for practical reasons i felt this was as pretty as a diamond.
The jeweler was even taken back that this stone was so pretty- he was very respectful that i went with a mossiy but had no idea how much they’d come along in recent years- the amora really helps I think. I’ve only seen a 2ct untreated in person besides mine and it was disappointing- it made me panic but alas I feel the 1ct fit my finger and the color is pretty.
I took a really crappy video of the stone, in that, it’s crappy because of low light so you can see what i may look like in ‘bad’ lighting.
hope this helps!
just click and you should be able to view!

That’s so sweet that you could use family diamonds! I hope I made the right choice in having moissanite side stones. As it’s not a ‘speical order’ I believe that I can exchange it via MoissaniteCo if I do not remove the security tag. I wonder if you can try it on with the tag on :S They should at least allow you to do that so you can check the size. I guess I will see soon enough!
Very detailed work. Your jeweler did a great job and it’s good they set the stone for you as it seems that many don’t want to 🙁 Thank you for uploading and sending me your link to the video. The stone is truely lovely 🙂

Neela: Can you post pictures/video of your ring? I am considering getting this one as well in 7.5, either round or cushion cut. What are your thoughts after having it? Any concerns with the pave? Catching on things? Too tall? Too big? Thanks!!!!

Neela: I’d love to see an update as well! How has it held up? Can you show us pics? Any pave probs?
