WOW! I am so happy and excited!
On tuesday, November 6th I woke up at 3:30 in the morning with intense pain in my lower uterus. It came and went and mostly kept me up tossing and turning in bed. I called L&D at 7:15am and they suggested taking a bath and to call back when my contractions reached a minute in length and were 2-3 minutes apart. Or if I couldn’t talk or walk thru them. Well ALL day they were a steady 5-8 minutes apart and 39-60 seconds in length. Around 11pm my Fiance and I were playing yahtzee and I was so uncomfortable and they were coming on so strong and he was hitting nerves like never before. I was like a mexican jumping bean sitting in my chair. Eventually it brought me to tears and thats when the Fiance said “Its time to go.” I of course said “oh no, were good, it’s not time.” Well I quickly changed my mind! We got to the hospital about 11:30pm and put into a triage room in the Family Birthing Center. I was dilated to a 2 and 100% effaced. They had me walk the halls and use a birthing ball. The contractions were getting stronger and I was super uncomfortable during them. I still refused all meds. I was going to try my hardest! At 3:30 we were admitted and moved to our labor and delivery suite. I was dilated to a 4 and still hanging in there. My Fiance took a nap (He had a terrible migrane) and I tried to rest the best I could. I got over the whole natural thing around 5am.. The pressure along with the contractions were like non other! They gave me an IV port and gave me a dose of fentanyl.. It felt a lot better. But after a few doses it wasn’t working anymore. Once again I was in tears. I gave in and asked for an epidural around 9-930. I felt soo much better and I barely felt them administer it. My Fiance and I napped on and off the rest of the am into the afternoon. I don’t remember times and dilation from here on out. I was worn out from being up since 3:30am… My mom lives two hours away and was planning on leaving work at 2. WELL! There was a mix up at work and there was an extra nurse. Someone had to go home. They of course let her. She arrived around 11:45am. Next thing you know I am pushing by 1pm. I teared on each side and they gave me an episiotomy. (boy does that hurt now!!!) and at 2:06pm on Wednesday November 7th Mason Liam was born! They put him straight on my chest, came over and suctioned him and wiped him down, Fiance cut the cord and the doc said I am not taking him until you tell me to! I was so relieved and so happy! I delivered the placenta right away and while they were stitching me up I finally said I wanna know how much he weighs! To our surprise he weighed 7pounds 10 ounces and was 20 inches long with a head circumfrence of 12 3/4.
The nurse came over and showed my mom and I the placenta, (my mom is a nurse, lol and I asked to see it.) The nurse dug right in and showed us what it was all about. Its pretty neat. She showed us the water bag and explained it all. I didnt know the water bag has 3 layers!
Finally they brought Mason back over and he is so perfect in my eyes!
I wont bore you any more! Here are some pictures!
