Congrats to him! For the gift, maybe you can give him an experience instead of a thing? A picnic w/ his favorite foods, a hot-air balloon ride, dinner at a special restaurant, a spa treatment or massage, or a glider ride/flight.
OOh Arizona...I like =) The spa treatment would be right up his alley. Thanks!
I would give him something that reminded him of his accomplishment every time he used it. My fiance has a super nice pen that is engraved. He uses it on important things and when he does the engraving catches his eye and always makes him smile.
How about an engraved stethoscope? My sis just got one for vet school and it is engraved with her name, so I bet you could get one engraved to say just about anything.
New fancy engraved business cards! My parents got them for me and I love them! It is something I would never get for myself but that I use all the time. And this way you can put his accomplishment where everyone can see!
How about some personalized cufflinks? I found a designer last year on etsy and they made some that were of vintage maps (sherry truitt on etsy). You could have one cufflink show the city of the first place he began college at and the other cufflink the city of where he finished his MD at!
Congratulations to him!
don't get him an engraved stethoscope - those get borrowed, left all over the place, lost - and you'd hate to spend a lot of money on something that walks off so easily. same with pens, which you probably know are SUPER precious commodities in the hospital and also get borrowed and lost quite frequently. customized/engraved cufflinks or a tie clip from his med school would be nice, and won't walk off. if he is a surgeon, getting him embroidered/customized (or just cool prints) surgeon's caps might be appreciated.
Thanks for all of the suggestions...@mrsbear...I casually dropped all of these suggestions into conversation and he basically said the same thing about the stethoscope and the pens. I know he wears cufflinks and he liked the idea of the spa so I am leaning towards either of those. Thanks again ladies...you rock!
Amazing! Congrats to you both! Glad he will be able to relax and enjoy the wedding and honeymoon.
I love the idea of making him some gift certificates for massages, dinner, etc, or personalized mediacal realted cufflinks!
I decided to get my FI some cufflinks. They are being hand engraved as we speak. Hopefully he will like them and wear them often.

My FI has 2 very great careers...yep...I said 2. The man is driven...what can I say. Anywho...the president of the hospital where he works and I have been pushing him to go back to school to get his PhD. After much cajoling...he enrolled and is doing absolutely GREAT. Then the dreaded Medical Board Exam came up...I say dreaded b/c this exam has derailed the hopes and dreams of many a prospective M.D. and PhD. My sweetie gets HORRIBLE test anxiety but he PASSED!! YAY!! I am so proud of him and the work that he put in so that he could pass this exam and we could relax and truly enjoy our trip/wedding in Jamaica stress free. I am planning on sending him an edible arrangement (he loves those things) and want to send something else that he would use. What do you give the man who has everything? Suggestions Please!!
