Weddingbee boards

I'm engaged! Ah it was so sweet and such a surprise! We couldn't be happier!!

So on Thursday my mom called and said my dad needed me to drive up to his office and sign some POA papers and get them notarized. I wasn't happy because they knew FI (!!!) and I were going to dinner in a couple hours and I needed to get ready. But I did it anyways, got stuck in rush hour traffic coming home, and finally got home like 20 minutes before he was supposed to pick me up, feeling really frazzled. Turns out, these papers were bogus! Totally made up, typed up by my dad's assistant. When he asked her to make them he said in his email "Make them official looking as she is smart." They just were helping get me out of the house so FI could set up.

As soon as I pull into the driveway, I spot a rose on the porch by the door. We had talked about making this dinner a really special goodbye dinner since we're long distance, so I still didn't know what was up. (A conversation we had the day before had me pretty sure it wasn't happening on our winter break.) When I opened the door, I saw there was a rose on every step and three envelopes spread throughout them. Each envelope had a card in it with BEAUTIFUL messages inside listing reasons why he loved me. At the top of the stairs there was a path of roses to my bedroom door. 

On my bed was a dress, a dozen roses, and another card. This card said "Be ready at 6:00 SHARP!" (I definitely wasn't- whoops!) When I came downstairs, he blindfolded me! That's when I knew what was going on. He walked me to his car, where he put headphones on me and started a playlist of all the songs we've loved together over the years. (Which just had me in tears)

When we arrived at his destination, he helped me out of the car and we walked. I had no idea where we were. Finally he stopped me, kissed me, and took the blindfold off. When I opened my eyes, we were in the exact spot he had asked me to be his girlfriend nearly 5 years ago when we were 15 and 16 and HE WAS ON ONE KNEE. (Side note- the blindfold got stuck in my hair so I was panicking and trying to rip it out (ow) while he was on one knee. Luckily, he waited till I got it out to start talking- I think it actually made him a little less nervous because it was funny!) He said a bunch of really sweet things I don't really remember and ended with "Will you marry me?" to which I of course said "Yes!" 

And just another little side note about the cards- over the past six months, he's sent me 4 cards with really sweet notes in them. The four he's sent me in the past were the same four cards he had spread throughout the roses and on the bed- just with different messages. He said he used the same type of card because he wanted to incorporate our past into his proposal and our future. SO sweet!! When he bought the cards to send to me months ago, he bought two of each one, so in a little way, he'd kinda been planning this for six months!

Wow sorry that was long... Here is the ring!!
