My SO has told me this too.  I called an archeologist, foreign language translator and even a scientists looking into possible alien speach to figure out the meaning.

Translation:

“I have something decided.  I possibly already have the ring and am deciding the perfect moment to finally ask you to spend the rest of your life with me.  So dont bother me anymore so i feel like i made the decision all on my own”

End of translation.

@Rush1986:  Hahaha, I’m glad someone was able to get some sort of translation from that phase!

@Rush1986:  LOL. What about the word ‘soon’? Used in a sentence. “When are you going to ask me to marry you?” SO- “Soon.”

That’s exciting! You had better give him a translation of the phrase “PLANNING TAKES TIME” because summer will be here before you know it!

@jpalm13:  Oh my god, if you figure that one out, let me know! That one has been vexing me for quite some time now. My “soon” and my SO’s “soon” seem to be completely and totally different, which I pointed out to him one time.

@jpalm13:  I’m afraid of the “soon” answer too, but what can you do? Colorado is an awesome place to visit! Where are you going?

Soon:  Enlish language definition

within a short period after this or that time, event, etc.”

Soon: Male language definition

“within a year, because we are so young and whats the rush?”

This i’m using from experience on the boards.  Soon for us is like a couple weeks. For them is always months.

@Rush1986:  Exactly! Soon to me means a month or so, but to him it could mean anywhere from 3 – 9 months. This also applies to other things, like when he wants to go somewhere. Soon could be 10 minutes but it could be 2 hours. Seriously, so confusing!!!

LOL, I don’t thinkit’s “couple of months” more like FEW.

Definition: Within 12 months

Lol i looked in November.  He said in January it would come “soon”.  Still waiting, and i have been reassured that it will “soon” happen.  Bologna i say! So i figured another month or two.

I like “it will happen when we’re ready” Wtf.  I’M READY!

I think we should start using the word SOON from now on when they want something LOL That would be a whole different game ! Ha (evil laugh)
