he is really lucky…my fiance totalled and flipped his car on the highway because someone didn’t bother to look where they were going, on January 8th 2012, and is stuck at home with a broken neck, among other random injuries, for a very long time… =( We are only looking at whats safe…he doesn’t wanna be in some fancy cute little car anymore…The Chevy Impala has a roll bar, (thats what he likes now, lol), and front and side airbags AND front and side 5 star crash ratings, and the new ones start around the low 30s I believe…we’ll hold out for 2013 if thats what we decide to go for… =) He also likes the Nissan Mazimas, and the acuras but I don’t know how safe those are yet…

I am so relieved to hear that he is okay! I agree with @eloping:  You guys should give eachother hugs! It’s a car, and a car can be replaced, but not our loved one!

@ForeverAndEverAfter:  Maxima’s are great cars, my bf drives one. Still sleek and stylish, but also very safe. I had two friends (brothers in fact) that both totaled Maximas with barely any injuries. And I’m talking when you saw pictures of the car there was no way you’d believe anyone survived it.

Glad he’s ok!  If you guys are looking for another 4wd, Subarus are full-time 4wd and are fairly inexpensive to start- I’m actually looking at Impreza hatchbacks that start around $18,500, and I think the Forresters are only a touch more than that.  If you can find a used Forrester, my ex’s whole family drove their Forresters to 300k miles and beyond, so if they’re maintained they really do last forever.  Just check the gas- I think back in the day some of them took premium only, which might’ve changed, but it’s an important issue with gas the way it is.

Good to hear that he is ok. An insurance company is not going to replace your car unless you have replacement car insurance, and here you can only get that type of insurance on a car that is less than two years old.

Unfortunately, it is a used car and they will give you what the going rate is  for your vehicle depending on the condition.

DH was in an accident (not his fault) back in ’07 and his car rolled twice and ended up totaled. Such a frightening experience for him – he was really shaken up in the hours following. So happy for you that he isn’t hurt and that you’ve found a replacement vehicle!

@MySunshine:  Ugh!  Was this in Redding?? (I noticed your location, and I am super close to there)  I personally hate driving in Redding and avoid going there whenever possible, especially with all the construction along the 5.  Glad he wasnt injured!!  You totally lucked out with the insurance!
