Just curious as to why? It’s not like guests gorge themselves on wedding cake.

Did you mean something like a vegan alternative?

If not, I agree with what was said upthread: and add that pieces of wedding cake are generally small, and really, if there was a time to splurge on cake…

We had wedding cupcakes.  I don’t think they were any healthier than cake but they sure were good!  My sister made them!

Hmm… you might be able to do a low-fat cheesecake or mini-cupcakes… but seriously, a half-inch slice of cake may be health-friendlier than a cupcake, because it’s much smaller!

If you’re going non-traditional, maybe cheesecake.

As a host and this being the biggest party we will ever throw,  we are trying to be mindful of my guests expectations/comfort/enjoyment with all of our choices while still obviously considering our wants and desires for our wedding day…

That being said, do consider that a piece of wedding cake is probably smaller than a cupcake. And while it’s certainly less traditional, ounce for ounce, cheesecake is going to be less healthy than regular cake.

How about an assortment of mini-desserts?  That way your health-conscious guests can have one and others might sample a few.  Or maybe a tower of petit fours — that could be really stunning.

You could always supplement a small serving of cake with a helping of seasonal fruit!

healthy on your wedding day?! All this healthy exercising and dieting before the wedding….I can hardly wait to eat deliciously bad wedding cake.

Mmmm…. homemade granola bar (made with honey!) cake would be delightful, IMO. Serve with fresh fruit, like strawberries, thin sliced on top…

Okay, definitely weird, but it WOULD be delicious.

How about serving sorbet or froyo after dinner as the dessert?  I know TCBY does special orders for events, and they’re pretty affordable.  Vanilla froyo with berries on top…mmm… : )
