When in doubt, Skinny Taste. I try to stick to veggies and dip, but I have zero willpower most days. It's awful.
@Gerbera: edamame, both fresh and dried
i make my own kale chips, they are soo good for satisfying that crunch factor

this recipe is plain, but i've added garlic powder and also parmesan as well
I started eating Nutella on rice cakes at work to keep myself from snacking on candy! It makes me feel like I'm still eating chocolate.
For snacks at night instead of eating popcorn or chips FI and I eat cauliflower. We cut off the florets, mix with a little olive oil and salt and pepper and bake 15 minutes, flip and bake for another 15. It's delicious!
I also snack on celery with a little peanut butter, wheat thins, low fat graham crackers, dried fruits (they have this amazing dried pineapple at Costco right now) and healthy cereal.
Oh, hummus and pita too!! You can just snack on pita chips with it or tear apart pieces of pita bread. Veggies in hummus are delicious too.
@hyena:Oh that sounds delicious! I LOVE nutella....I won't let myself buy it normally because I'll just eat it with a spoon but I may have to make an exception to try this!
Oooh, I forgot, I also learned how to make sweet potato "fries" from my grandma. Mr. H LOVES them, and they've got some vitamins, even if they're not super low-cal.
Sweet potatoes
2 Tbsp oil
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic salt/powder
Slice up potatoes. Lay them on baking sheet and drizzle the rest of the ingredients over them. Bake 425 degrees for 20 mins. Mmmmmmmm.
@Running Elley: I also do this, since they only have plastic forks and spoons at work, so I spread my Nutella with a spoon and lick the rest off!
@hyena:I was just going to add sweet potato fries to my list!!
this one's good too

Greek yogurt and oatmeal are my favorite healthy snacks! Chobani has some aMAZing flavors (try the pineapple!) of yogurt and it has a TON of protein (twice as much as regular yogurt).
We both love veggie chips! We'll seriously go through a bag every few days if we aren't careful. But they're healthier than regular chips and I think they taste better.
I also love putting yogurt in the freezer for an hour till it is slushy, then adding frozen mixed berries... YUM!
Yea, we do the veggie + dip thing a lot already. We usually try stick to low fat french dressing less on the creamy dips.
What is kale chips?? I've heard of them but still have no idea what it is? Is it a vegetable?
Shockingly I'm not a huge fan of edamame. My SIL however can sit there and go through a whole bag of steamed edamame.
haha. I think the Nutella might negate the point of eating rice cakes? Unless there's more nutritional value to Nutella than I know of? I'm craving Nutella Crepes now!
OMG Sweet Potato Chips are the best things ever. We make them all the time now in lieu of freezer aisle fries. Sweet Potato is actually REALLY chock full of nutritional value. THey are also awesome in mashed potatoes!
Just bought some whole wheat pita and roasted tomato & garlic hummus today. :)
I'll have to check out the dried fruits at Sams Club or BJs then! Been toying with making my own trail mix.
@kirabee: another bee recommended Chobani the other day so I picked one up today to try. We'll see if I like it ( I HATE yogurt), it's pretty $$$$ so I didn't want to buy a bunch if I didn't like it.
@piglet_625: ooh great idea about freezing the yogurt!!!! It's genius!!
@Gerbera:We make our own trail mix! I use lots of almonds and cashews, dried fruit and granola.
Oh! Where do you get your ingredients? The bulk trail mix from the store today was $7.99/lb!! That's $$$. But I fear buying the individual ingredients in small quantities might get $$$ as well?
I've thought of using Chex as well! :)
We have a dehydrator so we might dehyradate our own fruits.
@Gerbera:I buy the ingredients in bulk at Costco haha. The trail mix at the store is REALLY expensive and they also put in a lot of peanuts (which I love but are a lot of cals). I'm so jealous that you have a dehydrator!! I really want one! You could dry basically anything!
My husband got ours years ago from Walmart when we started making jerky. It's REALLY cheap!!!
THIS is the one we have. Registry item for you perhaps? ;)
LOL, so I keep thinking of things to add to this! A while back for breakfast I would make yogurt parfaits, layering yogurt and granola and chopped up fruit. Could make a good "dessert" as well.

Hi Everyone!
What do you turn to for healthy snacking? We've been not stocking unhealthy snacks at our house lately, no chips, no cookies, etc etc.
But at night when we're chillaxin' watching TV we just want to munch!
So what do you snack on that's healthy?
Besides, fruits, veggies, peanuts, hummus & pita, trial mix; we already have those. :)
My husband does not like rice cakes although I do.
Please share! :)
