I Love Pretzels, they dont have as much fat as chips, so thats awesome

cereal bars are also good, crackers with a little dip?

Also some fruit strips (if you get them there)

@FutureMrsMeinhardt:  Also apples, almonds, Lara bars, tuna, low-fat string cheese, a bag of mini bell peppers…

I know those last two sound like they should be refrigerated, but trust me (I work outside a lot as a biologist and sometimes for several days without a fridge ), they’ll be fine for a few days.

@islandlily84:  This is the best response I’ve seen thus far.  Lara bars from what I hear are horrible, same as Cliff bars.

We’re going on a road trip in a few weeks and we will be packing sandwich fixings, low carb wraps, veggies and fruits and whole grain crackers and hummus. 🙂

@mrs_pudding_pop:  you know what an amazing combo is…green beans and hummus! It sounds so odd but the tastes together are perfect! Yeah I’m  not too sure what’s in those Lara or Cliff bars. You could always make some homemade protein bars to take too!

@islandlily84:  I’ve never thought to try that, sounds yummy!

OP, I’d bring some beef jerky, salame, soft bagels packed as airtight as you can, trail mix and granola ….but that’s probably not too healthy huh? Sorry, that’s all I can think of.

Staples for me and I’m a celiac: Rice cakes, Peanut Butter (the type with just peanuts Crazy Richards doesn’t have to be refridgerated), lara bars, Vega One Bars, Bonk Breakers, Turkey Jerky, Shelf stable turkey pepperoni, Apples, Mary Lou’s fruit bars, Tuna with rice crackers, tomatoes, bell peppers, shelf stable cheese spread, almond milk (single servings), cereal, dried fruit, nuts, bananas, gluten free bread/muffins,

I frequently go on day trips and I’ve gotten extremely used to taking my own food due to multiple allergies. I even have shelf stable add water soups, shelf stable indian food pouches, shelf stable thai food with a small can of chicken, etc I can take with me.

@islandlily84:  You can make your own Larabars really easily.  Mostly what’s in them is dried fruit and nuts.  We make apple ones with dried dates, almonds, walnuts, dried apples, cinnamon, ginger, a little bit of salt, and some nutmeg.  Really good, really healthy, you roll them into balls and they’re good to go.

I tend to take dried fruit, homemade Larabars, cut up veggies, cherry tomatoes, hummus in a tupperware container, popchips or tortilla chips (just something salty) and a thing of beef jerky on long car trips, but I’m gluten intolerant, which cuts out a lot of food.  Single-serve almond milk is good, I also make big bottles full of hibiscus tea for the road.

@islandlily84:  Oh YUM.  I am so trying that out!

I made homemade protein bars this winter and they were amazing – would’ve been even more so had FI not eaten almost all of them, lol. 😛
