@Mrsgrghbbs:  Yay! Congratulations! There are at least 6-7 bees here who have heart e-rings that I can think of right now 🙂 I think your new ring sounds lovely. I have heard great things about both places but bluenile seems to be a wee bit more reasonably priced from my own research. Here is my ring! It’s from a local jeweler but we copied the James Allen bezel setting (custom designed). She is .74 carats 🙂

James Allen is awesome!  My diamond came from there.  If you were buying a round, I’d say go for either, but for fancy shapes, you really need to see the stone.  I love hearts!  Can’t wait to see what you choose!

My diamond is from James Allen and I couldn’t be happier! Hubs went with JA because he liked that he could see the stone (I have an emerald cut, so color and clarity can be even more noticable) and I couldn’t be happier!

@Mrsgrghbbs:  Yeah just keep your original ring for sentimental value, and order your heart online. I dont think you can go wrong with either place and I think it will look great!

@JustLove25 has a plain white gold .50 carat heart solitaire and a plain white gold wedding ring and the set looks amazeballs.

@Mrsgrghbbs:  James Allen does custom work, so you can show them the setting you like at Blue Nile and they will make it for you, probably for less than BN. I asked them about a halo setting BN had, and they quoted me for 200-300 less than the BN setting. Definitely go with a diamond you can SEE, it matters in fancy shapes!

I’ve ordered rounds from BN and have been really happy. It’s hard to buy a heart sight unseen, but BN has a good return policy. JA might be a better bet.

There’s a tool on Pricescope where you can plug in the dimensions of a fancy diamond and it will render a rough image of the shape.

I’ll also recommend WhiteFlash, which is where my husband bought my ering stone and had a great experience.

To throw it out there, I’ve purchased a small loose heart through USA Certed Diamonds and it was also a pretty good experience, as the owner helped handpick me a stone. The price was good, the stone is lovely, but the communication was slow at times. In fairness, it was during a very busy season.

Good luck choosing the perfect diamond! 🙂

Pics of my ring/diamond. If you buy a diamond through WhiteFlash, they take glamour shots – which was a big bonus for me!
