I’m stressing out over the right shade of lipstick for my wedding day. I normally wear a soft pink lipstick, but I noticed that it didn’t show up too well in my engagement photos, which leads me to believe that I should wear a more prominent color so that it shows up in pictures on my wedding day, is this true? I bought a mauve colored lipstick yesterday day, which is darker and more dramatic than I normally wear. Is that the right thing to do for my wedding day?
Did you Bees change how you normally wear your make-up for your wedding day? Did it turn out OK in pictures? I’m nervous….

I wore a pink colored lip gloss for my wedding and it looks alright. You might want to consider just going a few shades darker instead of switching to a dark red colored lipstick.

I didn’t wear any lipstick and opted for clear gloss- I looked like myself. I think it’s important to look like yourself for your wedding.

The lipstick I got the other day isn’t red, it’s more of a pinky-brown-purple (lol, very hard to describe, but I HATE red lipstick on me, so I was careful about it not being red). Everyone says it looks perfect and that they really like it, it just feels odd, to me, wearing it. That is probably because I am not used to it.
I also thought that I would wear it and have someone take a picture of me to see how it looks photographed.

I never wear makeup and I didn’t on my wedding day.
@maureen9004: I agree.
It is important to look like yourself, IMO. I would just do what you normally do.

Definitely take pictures of it and see how it looks. I rarely wear lipstick but when I do, I almost always go for some shade of pale pinky nude. For the wedding, I want something a little different so I plan on trying something similar to what you described, or maybe a pinkish-berry shade.

It is very important that I do look like myself, I just want to look like a more dolled up version of myself, if that makes sense. I don’t want to look drab and washed out in my photos, which is why I was told to get make-up with more color in it than I normally wear….
Oyyy, I don’t know!

Do you live near a mall? If so head over to a makeup counter and consult with one of the employees! Find a color that looks good (and that you can try before you purchase it), and wear it around every once in a while just so you can become acclimated to wearing a new color.

For weddings I think a bold lip is ok as long as everything else is understated.

I think heavier make up is good…just a bit more than usual. It looks great in pics, will wear longer (cause it will be a long day) and I think its good to feel a little more dolled up on a day thats so special.
