@bookbride:  I think this is PLENTY of food. Like you said it’s a “Cocktail reception” so once ppl know this they will of course probably expect small horderves but will be pleasently surprised to see all that you guys are offering.  🙂

When I think “cocktail reception” I think of not enough food to be a full meal, just small bites and appetizers.  What you have planned definitely sounds like a full meal and enough food!

I would love to attend your wedding!  My husband and I have actually still been hungry at the end of several formal sit down dinners!  You plan sounds great!

This sounds like a stations wedding, not heavy cocktails. This is a meal and a half lady! Your guests will be full and happy (and probably tipsy).

@bookbride:  It sounds really good! Are you planning on having seating and tables? When I think of a cocktail reception, I think of high cocktail tables and no chairs, to encourage mingling, with food that is generally only 1 or 2 bites each. But your average portions of meat, soup, salad, and bowls of pasta are pretty hard to eat standing up! If you are offering seats and normal portions of food, you might not want to call it a cocktail reception. If you have a gap between the ceremony and the reception, guests might grab a bite to eat before the reception if they think they are just getting hors d’oeuvres.

@bookbride:  That sounds REALLY fun! Not sure what to call it, but since people will definitely be getting a full meal you’ll want to convey that somehow. You could call it a “dinner party” to reflect the fun, cozy nature of the atmosphere. Maybe that’s too homey, not fancy enough? I’ll think more about it and I’m sure other bees will have good suggestions!
