Im not sure if any of the bees have been following the story of this man, but my heart is so heavy for this family. I dont want this post to turn into a debate on death penalty or racism. If you have any negative thoughts i ask that you please not comment on this post.

This man's family is a friend of my family and i just pray that God takes control of this situation. There are way too many innocent people being put to death...these are scary times right now. If your religous or not please just send positive thoughts and prayers his way today.

    Thanks Bees

I know of his story and have been following the case with a mix of heartbreak and outrage. I'm so sorry for what he, and his family are going through and I hope he can get the polygraph, or another delay before tonight. :(

@dorsay: they just released that the prison is blocking the poloygraph. His lawyers just filed a last minute stay. They should at least commute his sentence to life instead of putting this man to death.

There are so many issues with this case. It just makes me so mad because people like Casey anthony get released.....and this man is about to die.

Today is a sad day in our history.

I'm so sorry for those involved who did and didn't know Troy.

My cousin organized a vigil for troy in the Capital building of NY. Praying for a miracle!

My husband lived in Savannah at the time of this murder (I'm too young to remember it, but he does), and is a former cop himself. Lots of news reports that there was no physical evidence found linking him to the murder, but there were- bloodied clothes of his found at his mother's house. He ran to Atlanta to hide after the murder. Lots of news stories are not printing the full details of the crime. Here's an article from the former DA who helped prosecute this case that sheds some light on "doubts" about the case. I'm not saying there's not faults with the death penalty or our justice system in general, but I also don't think Troy Davis is as innocent as many people would believe.

@ohheavenlyday: Not going to debate if he is innocent or not but i do believe that putting him to death is not the answer. My heart aches for the family of the police officer also. The family is saying the the bloodied clother were not from the shooting of this officer and they were never tested for DNA.

With so many new and amazing forensic science tools out there, why are they not testing the clothes...and why are they not allowing this man to take a polograpgh?

As a black man, living down south, where there is so much racial tension, being accused of killling white police officer....anyone would run.

Such a sad story, regardless of his innocence or not I don't think they have enough of a case to put him to death.

The first thing we did in my Amnesty International chapter in college was to organize a protest/petition signing for Troy. This seriously breaks my heart and boggles my mind. I just don't understand how the justice system could be so unfair to him.

Keeping him and his family in my thoughts tonight...

I hope it occurs to the "powers that be" that it will only make the victim's loved ones grieve all over again, with guilt added to it,  if it comes out after he's executed that he was innocent.

HuffPo is hinting at a possible US Supreme Court stay on the execution, but isn't offering anything concrete. CNN was also hinting a few minutes ago, but their site is changing quickly and it's disappearing. According to CNN he's already been sedated. Not looking good.

My heart and prayers go out to him and his family. A small part of me thinks the execution will be stayed (hoping), however with the way things are looking, it doesn't seem that way. I just think the entire trial is ridiculous and one of the many reasons why I don't trust our judicial system.

I also would like to ask everyone to pray for Lawrence Brewer who was also executed today. Regardless of his crimes No man should have the power to take another mans like "legally". my heart aches for him and his family.

Lets all stay prayful for troy davis an dhis family and that God touches the hearts of every judge on the supreme court and allows them to spare this mans life.

Watching CNN. This case is as old as I am... Saw one of the jurors say, if she knew then, what she knows now. She wouldn't have convicted him. She said then he was guilty, now, no.

@MrsStrawberry24:  Is this the story where 7 of the 9 witnesses recanted or something to that effect?  I think I saw a second or two of it on the news last night at the gym.  Was there any DNA evidence in his case?

I am in Canada, and have no idea what this case is all about, but I am going to google it. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man though because I DO NOT believe in the death penelty in any situation. One question though....Why if you are saying he is not guilty, and was wrongfully convicted are you saying he should live out the rest of his scentence in prison? Shouldn't he be a free man if he is innocent??

MSNBC has reported that the Supreme Court denied the stay of execution. This is not going to be good. Sad to say, but I expect rioting.

    @MrsStrawberry24:

Absolutely nothing, you are right. Just stating a worry as it seems to be the knee-jerk reaction when emotions run high in a situation like this.
