Ok, so I have this pair of shoes which I love. But I can’t wear them as is… they’re too high (2″). I’m 6’1″ already and taller than my fiancé, plus then my dress would be too short if I wore these. I have 1″ flats which are just ok… but I’d rather wear these. Do you think they can be shortened by an inch or even 3/4″?
I found some shoe repair places that I will ask tomorrow, but today I’m just curled up in pjs watching tv and wondering about this. So, does anyone have any experience shortening heels?

@Pinkmoon: I have had heels shortened but was told that the maximum they could take off without ruining the way the shoe worked, was 1/2″.

i’ve never heard of heeel shortening. but good to know. something to keep in mind since i don’t like wearing very high heels (though I am 5 feet exactly)

I wouldn’t do this. It throws off the balance of the shoe. Just look for something flat.

@Pinkmoon: I agree with PP that I wouldn’t attempt this. If you shorten the heel, the top portion of the shoe would tip up, unless you also fix the slope of the sole portion of the shoe… It will most likely cost more money to fix than a new pair of flats.

So I took them in today and he will shorten them for me. I’m not worried about the balance or the toe pointing up or something. It’s not like I want the heels chopped off a pair of 5″ stilettos, so I doubt it makes a big difference for shorter heels. And I’ll probably only wear them one time – I just can’t picture them working for any other outfit. I already own the shoes, so I want to make them work instead of going out shopping for a new pair. I didn’t find anything else I liked even remotely close to these anyway.
