You can get heel stoppers, but I personally had no problem with my three inch heels in the lawn...I think it depends on the type of grass/dirt/etc.
What does your dress look like? I like this wedge I just posted on another thread:

I think I'd need to see the dress to pick the shoe!

They come in clear and black
Pretty much all heels sink into the grass if you put any weight on your heel. If you work on walking by putting weight only onto the balls of your feet, you won't need to worry about sinkage. It takes some practice but it's totally doable.
that Aldo wedge is great. actually could be cute for the ladies as i wanted them to wear a silver/metallic. I agree that I could walk on balls of feet but since we are talking about 2 hours on the grass i don't want to have to think about it too much
here is a picture of me in my dress at my first fitting.

hmmm... dress pic size was too big. not sure how to make the file smaller to share a picture of the dress.
I haven't tried these yet, but intend to for my wedding because we are going to take a lot of outdoor pics. I also think that I am going to get them for my girls as part of their BM gift.

EDIT- Now I see that someone else already posted this...I feel dumb! Ha! LOL =)
it would be great if someone could post who has used the solemates and tell us if they work or not. its a great concept for sure - if they work! :-D
There is a "Testimonial" page on their website. It seems that they would have to work. They are cheap, you could order and try it out beforehand. That way you will still have time to get different shoes if needed.
OK - I just ordered a pair. $13.34 with shipping and handling. I will report back and let everyone know how they work.
But still keep posting ideas of cute shoes in the meantime!
i am going to add the obvious... if these solemates really work then the world is my oyster!!! Outside brides can have the most fabulous shoes they want! grass stains are a different issue all together! :-D
I've been wanting to order these myself. Please let us know how they work out. Whoever invented these is a genius!
Hi, everyone! I actually used the Solemates at my wedding in August! The ceremony was on squishy grass and then the dancing was on cobblestone-- they worked wonderfully! I panicked a little at first (partly because I paid more for them because I bought them at a stupid bridal salon), because they seemed too small to slide onto the bottom of my heels. However, I just heated them with a hair dryer to soften them up and they slid right on.
After the wedding, I discovered that my photog had managed to take them off and put them back on without my even noticing. (I was running around in flip flops setting up and he took shots of my shoes.)
I wore my shoes all night long, and danced all night with not a single misstep. I highly recommend Solemates!
I bought these: Colorful Creations Dixie. They may be slightly shorter than you want (heel is 1.75, but i think they measure the inside of the heel). I'm getting married outside, and the heel looks like it will be fine on grass. It's a little thicker than most, but still cute. (I'm dying mine aqua... can't wait!)
@Oscar, Thanks!! That is so good to know! I am going to order some for myself and my girls. My wedding is outside as well but I still want some super cute shoes! =)
I think the solemates idea is great. I've seen those online before, but not really sure if they work or if they make the shoes look ugly. Has anyone here tried them?
I am getting married this summer and was looking into something for the heels too. Would love some other feedback on SOleMates. Their website doesnt give that much info but they seem to have more press than I expected.
Hi Beatrice, there is an interesting video showing the SoleMates done by my Patricia Nevil on her Weddingism blog. From what I have researched, they seem to work well except like Oscar said, they are meant for the thin high heels, but because they are rubber, they can be forced in if it's slightly thicker.
Um, I hope that image doesn't come out super huge. I got it from that site. Here's the link to the video: http://blog.weddingism.com/sole-mates-review-weddingism-tv-episode9.htm
i finally tested the solemates and they totally work.
the difference between sinking in and not sinking was night and day! i am going to wear them for my wedding and I am so happy that i can get a decent pair of shoes now! :-D
Hello Wedding Bees!
It is such fun to read your posts, queries, and testimonials! Thank you for your candid comments and authentic interest in SoleMates!
Great News! We have a new size coming out in July for slightly wider heels! The current size (Small) fits heels which are between 8 and 11 mm in diameter. The new size (Medium) fits heels that are anywhere from 11 to 14 mm in diameter. In another few weeks, we will have an x-small size as well!
Thank you for your support of SoleMates! Please check www.thesolemates.com for availability in the new 2 weeks!

I ended up buying a pair of Heels Above rather than solemates back when I got married in November last year. I remember seeing them on a TV show with Hugh Heffner and all his girlfriends.
They ended up working fabulously! I ended up giving a bunch out to my bridesmaids on the day of the wedding and they definetely went to good use. I ended up going with the Heels Above product rather than the solemates because the packaging on Heels Above was just so much more elegant! The product is very similar, but I felt more confident in handing out the heels above over the solemates. Also, each Heels Above box included two pairs so you get double your moneys worth :)
My vote goes with Heels Above on this one.
Good luck girls!
HIGH HEEL SAVERS are GREAT, they come in three different sizes for the perfect fit and don't leave marks or dents on the shafts of the heel and they are inexpensive too!

I had the same problem for my wedding as well and decided to go with Heels Above because it offered more stability. The only con is that Heels Above doesn't offer a size to fit thin heels. I did a comparison chart and wrote about the pros and cons of Heels Above vs. SoleMates on my blog. I hope it helps!

Wow, these are too funny! Not a bad idea, but I look at them and I think "pocket protector for shoes!" I'm getting married outside at my FIL garden, and I don't want to poke holes in their beautiful yard (We are already cutting down 3 trees to fit the tent, which I feel terrible about...). I may break and get them anyways...but I'm wondering, did anyone get comments on their shoes?
@Au Jardin: We wore them for a friend's wedding and I plan to buy them for all my BMs for our wedding. Honestly no one even saw them. Yeah, they look chunky when you look at them but how often are you looking at someone's heel? Plus in the grass no one can even see them.
I do recommend double checking the size of the heels. The Classic worked well for my shoe but the heels they had at David'Bridal(where they are sold) was too thick for the classic and 2 of the BMs had the super skinny heels that were too little for the Classic. The Classic was the only size available at the store so check your heels ahead of time so you can order them online if necessary.

Hi there. We are getting married in June at a barn (www.roundbarnfarm.com). We are planning the ceremony and cocktails outside on the lawn before we have the reception inside the barn. I am looking for a pair of heels that are thick enough so they won't sink, yet feminine and pretty enough to wear at the wedding. i am open to all colors, etc. Wedges are a good option but there are not many choices.
What did you do? Can you suggest any particular shoes? I am looking for at least 2 inches, any color and don't really care about price.
thanks so much!
