Hmm, well I know that I feel better in heels, but that doesn't mean you will - and I'm guessing your consultant was thinking along the lines of she stands straighter in heels, looks better, etc, but she didn't think through that the same might not apply to everyone. But you're the bride, and aching feet if that's not what you want will only make you look miserable in pictures. So go with your instinct! Also, those are cute shoes. :)
I say rock the flats you lucky tall lady! As a petite bride with a tall groom I'll be wearing 4.25" heels - mainly for the pictures :o) But if you two look balanced already I would wear the foot-friendly-flats!!
@Lily: Thanks for the input. You're right—I should remember that's probably just her perspective.
@Azin: Aw, thank you! Yes, it's lucky that we're matched well in height. Although sometimes I wish I could wear talls heels like you without feeling like a giant!!! :) I guess no one's ever completely happy, huh?
I can't imagine how heels would improve your posture. That's opposite of everything companies like Chaco and Earth tell you. Wear the flats since you can (they're really cute btw) - lucky you! If you want good posture take up yoga and go to a chiropractor. Most tall girls I know do slouch - FI does too and tells me he doesn't like giving the impression he's looking down at people :(
@gem...adorable shoes :) they'd look very pretty with red rose buds.
I am wearing heels for my ceremony but also a pair of ballet flats for the reception. So don't forget that as an option.
In a way, heels improve posture because if you don't lean back/stand tall, you'd pitch forward in heels!
But I'm with the other posters - wear what makes you happy. I feel awkward, clumsy, and unsexy in heels, therefore I'm going to be wearing cute flat sandals for our August wedding. :)
Gemstone it's so nice to see I'm not the only one having this problem. LOL I LOVE those purple Jessica Simpson heels however. (mainly because their purple) My soon to be hubby wants me to rock the heels so we'll see if we can meet in the middle
According to my wedding planner book, heels create a smoother line, since they lift your posterior up and out :)
But if you cant walk in them, then that kind of defeats the purpose.
@rachelss: Thanks for the input and the tips! Maybe I will have to make sure I am standing up straight anyway. I don't know if I slouch. :)
@Sulli: Thanks for sharing those photos!!! How do you make sure the hem of your dress is correct if you're wearing shoes of different heights during the day? Just curious!!!
@jduck: Thanks. Maybe I'll have to test both out?
@mzb2be: Thanks so much for posting! Let me know what you decide.
@rplatzer: Okay, I guess that makes sense. It's not that I *can't* walk in them...I can. It's more the comfort thing.
Anyone else with opinions/experience to speak from?
I love those flats, personally. I posted about them before, and even though I am a shortie (5'2") I wore flats for the second part of my reception. pssst, consultants just want you to buy more! ;)
I really do like those red flats, I say rock the flats. You will want to feel comfy. I wore really nice heels for my wedding but about an hour in, I was dying to get them off. They hurt like heck and I even had foot padding underneath.
I like your flats. I am going with heels, just beause that's me :) I think you should go with what makes you feel more comfortable on your day.
I love heels but then again im not as tall as you : )
Wear whatever you feel good in just make sure you try both.
I think you should go with the flats! Don't force yourself to wear (and buy) a pair of shoes you don't feel comfy in. See, I love heels, they're kinda my passion, so I couldn't imagine wearing anything else. But that doesn't mean everyone has to wear 'em! I've even let my BM's decide what they feel most comfortable wearing, as long as its silver. The flats you chose are really cute and you can definitely find use for them after the wedding.
@krissy: Hehe thanks!
@Roddy: Thanks for the perspective! I'm hoping to avoid the hurting heels.
@PrncssDva and Sep_Queen: Thank you! I will make sure to try on both.
@Jennifer: Thanks for the opinion! It helps. :)
@Osakagrl: They are Romantic Soles from Zappos: http://www.zappos.com/romantic-soles-geneva-red-satin
I'm tall too, 5'10", and FI is 6'3". I love heels and wear them all the time to work, but for my wedding I'm going for comfort all the way--flats, baby! Oh, and I'm doing purple ones actually similar to yours with a flower on the toe, that match my purple BM dresses.
I wish I could wear heels! i wear 5 inch heels to work every single day, but i'm 5'7 and FI is 5'7 so I have no choice! If FI was tall, I'd def be rocking the 5 inch heels!!!!
that's the dumbest bs I've heard. Sometimes I really hate consultants. You do what you want. Not what some sales lady says you should do. In my opinion and many podiatrists' opinions, heels make posture much worse. They make your back curved more and your ass stick out.

I have a question about the kind of shoes I should wear at the wedding.
I am tall. About 5'11". Luckily, FI is even taller than me at 6'2"ish. Because I'm already tall, I don't feel like I need to add height by wearing heels. Also, I just know I would be far more comfortable in a non-heel. My BMs' dresses are going to be red, so I was thinking it would be cute to wear a shoe like this:
Aren't those so precious? I fell in love! Esp if we have roses in our bouquets (haven't gotten that far yet).
But when I was trying on wedding dresses, the consultant I was working with said I HAD to wear heels of some sort (even if they were just kitten heels) because they make you stand up straigher/improve posture.
Well ladies, what do I do? I certainly want to look my best on the day (and in my photos!) so I want to have the best body posture....but I really don't want to have aching feet.
What do you think?
