Lbward6:  Oh my gosh! You poor thing! Your fiance has to put her in her place, and if that doesn’t work, yes, return the damn thing!

yeah i totally agree, FI needs to set his mama straight…its super weird you say that after you got engaged the relationship with FMIL changed, i totally feel like thats what happend with my FMIL too. She used to be really great and now i get a staggering amount of passive aggressive and backhanded comments.. I agree set her straight or give it back, i would never want something so sacred to have strings attached. good luck!

Lbward6:  But you also can’t put up with it, forever, either!

Lbward6:  maybe SHE should take her precious diamond and get out of YOUR life.

If returning the diamond will only antagonize her, then keep it. If she has suggested that she wants to diamond back, then return it.

Are you kidding me?  If that were my H, I would insist that he tell his mother in no uncertain terms that the next time she wanted to say something like that, the ring would be promptly returned.  Actually, unless she apologized, I’d be returning it right now.

Give her the diamond back; you’ll be hearing about that diamond, your whole married life, whenever she doesn’t get her way. If she had given it out of the kindness of her heart she wouldn’t be bringing it up, therefore, her intent wasn’t genuine and that is reason enough to give it back.

hell no, this is a gift and you can’t use a gift as leverage and she needs to grow the hell up.
