- Wedding: February 2012
So my boyfriend and I (we are both 23) will have been dating two and a half years August 23rd. We recently bought our first home, renovated it, got furniture and it’s finally all set up and livable! I love my boyfriend more than ever since we’ve moved in together. I really enjoy just spending time at home with him.
Now that we have a house, the next step on both our minds is to get married. We’ve been discussing it a lot, and he is just as eager as I am! We’ve been ring shopping multiple times. We went to Tiffany’s over the weekend and I fell head over heels in love with their famous solitaire ring with a 1 carat stone in it (Although we are opposed to diamonds for multiple reasons so we’ll be getting a similar setting with a moissanite stone instead.) I’ve been dropping hints about what kind of proposal I’d like and we’ve been teasing each other about all sorts of wedding related stuff.
Since we just bought a house and furnished it, I think the only thing preventing an official engagement immediately is our current lack of liquid funds, but in a few months when we’ve had a chance to build up our bank accounts again, I think a proposal is definitely coming!
This is such a whirlwind time for me, and I am really excited and loving every minute! The anticipating is both killing me and overjoying me at the same time!
Partly as a joke, partly because I am a wee superstitious and partly because I wanted to spoil my boyfriend, I decided to make “engagement chicken” last night for dinner. I set up the table nicely, bought some champagne and we had a lovely time haha. He REALLY enjoyed it! Partway through our meal he smiled at me and teased “Y’know, you’d make a pretty good wife”. I grinned back with a “why, thank you”. haha! I didn’t tell him it was meant to be engagement chicken, only because if it somehow actually works (Rumor is you’re supposed to get a proposal within 2 months of making the engagement chicken) I want to tell my boyfriend after he proposes so we can laugh about it together!
So here’s hoping that I’ll have a ring on my finger soon! Has anyone else here tried the famed engagement chicken? Let’s hear your testimonials!
