Introducing ms and mr Bordeaux:
I have been reading the bee for months now and have found countless inspirations for my own wedding. However, since i’m Vietnamese and my fiance is half Philipino and half Indian it’s been really hard to find information for such a mix of cultures. Thus, I wanted to share my experiences with other bees.
In honor of all our heritages we have decided to have 2 ceremonies: the Vietnamese tea ceremony and a catholic ceremony. The tea ceremony will take place in Clovis, CA. While the Catholic ceremony will take place in Southern Cali as well as the reception.
Im starting the blog kind of late because we have actually planned most of the wedding already. The last week was spent in Southern Cali meeting vendors and trying to figure out what we need and what we dont need.
We have only been engaged for 2 weeks but the wedding has been talked about since the first year we were together. Thus, right after we got engaged we dived into planning.
Our top priority was the reception and the photographer, both of which will be sucking the majority out of the budget.
After many visits to all the chinese/vietnamese restaurants in all of Southern Cali we finally found one that would serve our 100 guests and looked nice but also served great food. Seafood World Restaurant was our knight in sort of shining armour. The banquet room required some sprucing up which will be drapings on the ceiling and lighting. Wooh, we were relieved that the reception site was finally done.
Now, the more fun part was meeting up with our photographer. I saw an ad for Huy Khiem in a vietnamese music dvd and wanted him for our wedding. We went into his studio in Westminster and his work was AMAZING. He is the photographer of all the viet celebrities and singers and has years of expierience in photography. My fiancee and i looked at each other and knew that no matter where we had to cut corners we wanted him to take our pics for the big day and the studio pics too.
His site is http://www.huykhiemweddings.com
You can check out his amazing work. We are still in the process of negotiating a price for the whole package because it is wayyyyyy expensive but well worth it if he can go lower for us.
Thats all I have tonite, so have a good nite and ’til next time 🙂

wow, welcome to (posting on) Weddingbee!! Sounds like you’re doing really well with planning, thank you for sharing your experiences with us 🙂 I hope others are able to benefit from it in the future, and that our little crowd keeps becoming more and more diverse.
I think I’ve been to Seafood World Restaurant, maybe, when I used to live near LA. I may be thinking of another place though 🙂 but is it downtown? If it’s the place I’m thinking of, their food is awesome!
ps – you should totally work on keeping up your blog, I for one would LOVE to see another multicultural couple blogger Bee 🙂

Hi and welcome to the boards! I also came to Weddingbee sort of late in the game, when most of my wedding was already planned. Actually, I don’t think I got really involved in the boards until I was already married! The people here are so nice and full of good advice and opinions. Looking forward to hearing more from you!
