Hello, I am new here, however I have been using your site as a reference for all of my research throughout the past several months. What I need help with is knowing from experience if anyone has returned their Blue Nile orders and the turnaround time of refunding the money. My biggest fear is not liking the diamond and having to return it and not having it by the time I propose. So anyone who has purchased from Blue Nile and either loved their purchase or had to return it. I plan on buying through Blue Nile because I think this setting is the absolute perfect setting I have seen yet, http://www.bluenile.com/twist-diamond-engagement-ring_42402. I have looked at James Allen, BN, and several brick and mortor stores and cant find anything that matches. The only problem I see of course is the fact that you cannot actually see BN’s diamonds until you receive them; they have a great return policy but that would tie my funds up for another 2-3 weeks after they receive the return and process it. My fear is that I woudn’t have a diamond by my deadline. Does anyone have experience with ordering and returning a diamond and Blue Niles turnaround time? I have to have the diamond by approx. May 19th as I plan on proposing the following week, so I plan on ordering the ring soon!!! Thanks in advance!

We ordered my upgrade through Blue Nile. I talked with them extensively on the phone, and they happened to have each of the stones I asked about on-site and were able to tell me about them. They were honest and told us when an SI stone had a visible inclusion and what sort it was. I was very pleased with the service and I was delighted with the stone and setting. The workmanship was fabulous. We ordered a round stone and I ran all the numbers through the HCA before ordering, so that helped ease my mind, too.
I did not return that ring, although I have returned other pieces of jewelry to Blue Nile in the past. I NEVER had to wait 2 or 3 weeks to be refunded. On two different occasions it was processed within 3 days (processed immediately; showed back up on my credit card by day three).

Is it possible to order the setting and buy the diamond somewhere else, in person, and have it set there?

They were extremely helpful and had great customer service when I talked to the rep. (Josh) over the phone. I went ahead and ordered the ring!!! I’m pretty sure its going to look great and I wont even have concern over returning it, as I was able to find a IF clarity graded diamond for close to the same price as the other VS2 thru VVS1’s! Ended up getting .71 ct round, I color, IF Clarity, Exc. Cut! Cant wait till it comes in!
