Welcome to the new local boards!
As you may already know, there are 6 Chicagoland Bees - Mrs. Emerald, Mrs. Radish (me), Miss Jasmine, Miss Chickadee, Miss Peacock, and Miss Sundae.
Let's all get to know each other better. Tell us a little about yourself!
Yay Chicago brides! Chicago has been my adopted home for two years now and I love it! I currently live in Streeterville, but after the wedding, I'll move into Mr. Jasmine's place in the West Loop.
Hurray for local boards! I'm getting married in the Northwest suburbs (Wheeling) on June 14. All vendors are in place, and I just made my long to-do list for the coming month! Little things crept up on us. Currently deciding if I (suddenly) want personalized cocktail napkins. And waiting for my caketopper to be finished and shipped!Â
I'll go too ...
I live in Chicago, in the Ukrainian Village. I've been out here for about four years. I moved out here because Mr. Radish went to grad school at the U of C and we were sick of having a long-distance thing.
Mr. Radish and I are both originally from upstate, NY, so our wedding was out there.
Hi there everyone!!
While I live in Los Angeles, I was born and raised in Chicago and still consider it my "Hometown". My FI and I will be getting married in the city in March '09!!! So far, we have been back to Chicago just once to start the process, but I have a feeling I will be making quite a few trips back to sort out all the details!
Actually, my next trip is over Memorial Day weekend to go Dress Shopping and speak with Photoraphers!!!
WOO HOO for CHICAGO BOARD!!!
Katelovescoffee: you're my opposite! I was raised in Los Angeles, but now I live in Chicago!
Jasmine!!
Ohhh YAY for Chicago Brides!
I really miss my days of planning and blogging! Mr. Emerald and I got married last September in Oak Brook, and it was the most perfect day we could have imagined =) I still check Weddingbee religiously cuz I can't let go! We currently live in Hinsdale (SW burb) but are moving to the West Loop in Aug/Sept, so can't wait to be neighbors with Miss Jasmine! =) Any other West Loop-ers out there?
I'm in Marketing by day, and a Wedding Consultant by night! I've just started my own company, Sweetchic Events, Inc. I've known for years that I wanted to be a planner, but finally got up the guts to just go for it! Feel free to contact me at charlene@sweetchicevents.com if you are looking for a planner or DOC (sorry for the little shameless plug
)
Hi Chicago Brides :) I grew up in the western burbs (Naperville) and currently live in the South burbs (Frankfort). I am hoping to move back downtown someday soon- it sounds like I need to go West Loop!
Hi Ladies!
I grew up in Elmhurst and am now living in the West Loop. I'm currently planning my wedding for September 20, 2008. Can't believe how quickly time is passing! Can't wait to get to know the Chicago brides a little better on our local board!
Julia453 - we were neighbors! I grew up in Franklin Park!
West Loop ladies: The *cutest* wedding store has opened up on Madison, right on that strip by Beer Bistro. It's called Smitten and I went in there with my friends during my bachelorette this weekend. They have the most darling wedding things!
Ok well I don't live in Chicago, but I went to one of the most beautiful weddings in your city!! You can read about it here:
http://vailbride.blogspot.com/2008/05/real-wedding-chi-town.html
We stayed at the W (which I loooove), and the rehearsal dinner/party was at the Twisted Spoke- such a laid back place before such a fancy wedding- it was a nice mix. Anyway just thought I would tell you your city is amazing and I hope to make it back!!
Hey! I'm in River West. Sounds like all you Chicago brides are moving close to my neighborhood!!! I'm like Grand & Halsted, so walking distance to W. Loop :)
I live in Chicago, but my wedding will be in FL. I'd still like to get to know all you ladies though, because c'mon Chicago's AWESOME!!!!
Emerald... I grew up in Hinsdale! I live and work in the Northwest suburbs now, though.
Hello there!
I'm in the SouthWest Suburbs (Romeoville) and will be getting married in 4 weeks (06.07.08) in Wheaton! I'm originally from MI but moved to be with my fiancee'. I've been in the Chicagoland suburbs (Tinley Park and here) for about 8 years now. I'm very excited to talk with other brides about Chicago wedding stuff! Yippee!! :)
Hi everyone! I am planning a July 2009 wedding out in Naperville, which is my hometown and where I currently live. Nice to talk with other girls from the area!
P.S. I love all you Chicago Bees!
Hey y'all!
I'm in Lakeview and planning a downtown wedding in August. We're getting married at the Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue and having the reception at the Westin across the street. I'm so excited to hear from other Chicago brides!
Hey Ladies!! Yay for Chicago Brides!
We just set our date for June 6th, 2009 at a place I know Mrs. Emerald is familiar with - The Hyatt Lodge in Oak Brook! The ceremony will be at my church in Western Springs (SW Suburb), right next to Hinsdale.
I am just getting started with all of my planning and couldn't be more excited! I welcome any suggestions you girls may have for Photographers/Bands/Day-of-Makeup or any Chi-town insider advice :)
Touchdownkatie- I have a couple of recs for you!
Hi all! I live in Lakeview in Chicago-- but I'm getting married in upstate NY. So I'm straddling both these boards!
Hey Turtle - where in Upstate NY are you getting married? I got married in Syracuse but I grew up in Utica.
Hey Mrs. Radish-- I'm getting married in the Albany area. I grew up in Clifton Park, but our reception is in Troy, NY. YAY for upstate and Chicago pride!
My dad used to live near Clifton Park for a couple of years... in Round Lake. Have you ever been there. It was nice.
Do you have a venue yet for your wedding?
Round Lake? yes, in high school my friends and I used to drive all around up there-- just killing time and gas on summer nights. And, yes we do have a venue--we're getting married at St. Mary's in Waterford, followed by reception at the Franklin Plaza in Troy. BTW, your wedding was just beautiful!
Hi Chicago bees! I live in Milwaukee now, but I grew up in Naperville and am getting married in August in Lemont (at the Narnia Estate).
So glad to have discovered WeddingBee -- and these boards are way better than theknot boards which are way more difficult to navigate and have some really mean bridezillas on them.
Hi everyone, I agree with PurpleTulips, these boards are so much better than the Knot or Brides.com.
We live in Wicker Park, and our wedding/reception is at the Adler Planetarium this August....so its coming up fast! I'm so glad I found weddingbee....I wish I had found it sooner. Our rehearsal dinner is going to be at Tilly's since that's where we had our first date.
Hi Ladies. I live in River North, but the wedding is going to be in Philly. I am going dress shopping here, so I read the Chicago Board a lot! Any BEE meetups in the works?
Joining this lovely party late, but I live in the West Loop, my parents live in Burr Ridge (close to Hinsdale) and I am having my wedding at the Narnia Estate in Lemont, in August of 2009. It's a little nerve-wracking because I just can't seem to find much information on the Narnia Estate since it is a relatively new venue, the first photographer I wanted (Life On Prints) was already booked for my wedding date, and also because I am trying to move to Portland, OR! Hi everyone!
Hi everyone, I am new to the party. I live in Lincoln Park and I am planning to have my wedding in Fall 09. Would Cafe Brauer be a good place?? I heard the bathroom is not in great shape... um..
Hi ChrisMason, soon enough you'll see pictures and reviews from Miss Peacock's wedding, which is going to be at Cafe Brauer in September! Stay tuned...
I'm new to the party, too!
I grew up not terribly far from Chicagoland, and Mr. Pickles and I live in West Lakeview. We're getting married on April 18, and we have the church nailed down but now we're deciding between the non-traditional venues Bottom Lounge, Abbey Pub and the Irish-American Heritage Center.
One thing's for sure, though, I'm already overwhelmed!
Hi everyone! I'm new to the Chicago local board. My fiance and I live in Lakeview and we are getting married on August 08, 09. We chose Meson Sabika, in Naperville, IL, for our ceremony and reception site. The color we picked are Navy, Hot Pink and Silver. We are also all set on our photographer and videographer. Other than that, I am very much overwhelmed with wedding planning so I decided to join the hive :)
Hey there! MI transplant to Logan Square now residing in the North burbs! We're on a minute budget and we're thinking of renting a local Park District building. It's no ordinary Park District! Very nice. Any other suggestions for extreme budgets- venues, caterers, etc??? Got the dress- yeah! My FI is Chinese-American, so any and all suggestions for catering/restaurants that would accommodate 80ish guests AND a dancefloor AND somewhat authentic Chinese food are MOST welcome!!!
Wow - I thought that I had already introduced myself but I'm from the Midwest, spent 7 years in SoCal and been back for 6 years already! My husband and I got married in September 2007 in Chicago but I still find myself on weddingbee.com looking up ideas for friends' upcoming weddings, great diy project ideas, and giving any kind of advice.
For my reviews, I'm a yelper so I have a wedding planning list here:
Hi All:
Totally new here and just got engaged one week ago to wed on June 27th of next year......OMG I am overwhelmed already and JUST begun!
Hi all! I live in the West Loop (Washington & Halsted) and we're getting married November 15, 2008 ( so soon!!!!) We are getting married at Fourth Presbyterian downtown and our reception is at the Tasting Room in the West Loop. Yay for Chicago brides!!!!! :-)
there are two of you getting married at the Narnia...can you give me an idea of prices? I know its steep but want to know how much it will really sting the pockets~
Congrats to all the recent engagements joining the chicago board :)
Our wedding is March 09 at Hotel Allegro - any other Allegro Brides on here?
We are also long distance planning from SoCal...makes things very interesting...FI and I will be racking up the frequent flier miles the next 5 months!
I am getting hitched 10/24/09, hopefully somewhere downtown. We are both Chinese so any recs for wedding planners or where to get Chinese wedding stuff would be great! Ooooo planning is so fun!
