Hi! This is my first time after browsing for ages on here that I felt I had something newsworthy to report with my boyfriend and so am dying to post.
We have been together a year and a half, and we have spoken about getting engaged and married in the future. He’s actually been so keen that I’m the one that’s been pulling him back down to reality! haha. I love him very much.
We went ring shopping because neither of us had much of an idea of what we wanted. I guess I had a fair idea after spending time on here, but still had no idea what would look good on my hand. It was nice because we both actually agreed on a lot, for example as soon as I put white gold on after trying on yellow gold, he straight away gasped and said yes that’s so good on you!
I think the only thing is that I couldn’t find any thin bands, and I always had my heart set on tapered towards the centre stone. He thought that he liked the straighter bands better, and that’s fair. These are actually a lot thicker in the bands that I thought I would like, but I think they look good, what do you think?
I tried on most carat sizes, shapes and different settings.
I always thought I’d want a 1ct, but as soon as I put one on we both felt it was too big and gaudy.. and looked fake on my hand. Did anyone else feel this?
He’s my current favourite, a .75 round brilliant white gold solitaire:
It doesn’t show the diamond’s sparkle well though…
And then here is a .5 in a beautiful tulip setting and another similar .75 which had a better ‘inclusion’ grading:
I think the only thing I don’t like about the .5 is the prongs that are set ‘north-south’.. I think they make the stone look less round? We loved the setting though:
A closer look at the whole ring:
It has the tapered band that I like. Perhaps would be better with a larger diamond? They said there is the option to select and place a larger diamonds.
Anyway, I won’t bombard you with any more photos! What do you bees think? Sorry for my nails, I cut them for work and had no idea I would be dragged out ring shopping! :O
