DO you have MAC where you live? Let them do a trial on you and see if you like it.
I do have MAC where I live, but not sure about where I will be married. Should I have out of town BM's go to MAC too ? Any products you specifically like ? thanks for your reply !
Look the location up online and see if they have one. Are you paying for the BMs makeup? If not, it's normally their choice for their makeup. I love love love their shadows! The colors show up so well! (I don't wear makeup alot...just eyeshadow and mascara sometimes.)
Because it's an isolated location (on an island about 45 mins from Jacksonville), I was going to have someone come to the site and do all our makeup. I will look at locations and maybe if they dont have MAC, they have Sephora.
Yeah I would go to a MAC makeup trial and if you like what she/he does, 9 times out of 10 you can seperately hire her/him to do your/bridemaid's wedding makeup...
I love the MAC eyeshadows too, but for foundation I found that it didn't blend very well. It sounds like we may have similiar skin tones. I love Prescriptives for foundation. Some Macy's locations have Prescriptives counters, but if there is not one near you, they also have a website with consulants online. Good luck finding makeup!
I went to get a free makeup trial (not at MAC but Sephora) and the makeup artist offered to help me on the day of my wedding...for like 30 dollars! I thought she was crazy but I liked her style and said yes!
i didnt even think of going to sephora! good idea. I scheduled a consultation at mac and they have a minimum purchase of $50 for the consulation. Do you know sephora's rules about this? Does their foundation blend well on darker skin?
You could always create an account on the marykay.com website so you can use their virtual makeover tool. Even if you don't want to use Mary Kay makeup, it'll give you a good idea of what colors to use. You just upload a picture of yourself, program in where your eyes are and stuff, and have fun with colors. :)
Thanks for the pic Mrs. Taylor. We are about the same color. What is the shade you finally settled on? I think I'm going to try your trick of just going in to see if they'll hook me up at Sephora without scheduling the consultation, lol :)
LMAO @ looking like a Fashion Fair model!
I don't know about make up artists, but I love Smashbox make up the best! It's light, very light, even WITH primer on. ( I HATE heavy make up.)
I agree, see if a Sephora person could do it for you. They sell Smashbox.
Oh, I'm light skinned. Looking at my avatar, if the bears were people, that'd be my skin color, the girl bear.LOL
@ MsMamaBear - Lol at comparing your color to the bears. I think I would be the color of the bear's offspring.

I am an African American Bride getting married Oct. 2010 on Amelia Island, FL. My wedding is casual chic, beachy and I would like cultural aspects and touches. My main question of the moment is HAIR and MAKEUP tips. I dont normally wear much make up. My hair is THICK and curly and I wear it natural (with the assistance of Carol's daughter hair milk, Jane Carter Solutions and Paul Mitchell Sculpting foam, and an emergency ponytail holder at ALL times.)I am not bi racial, but fair skinned, with green eyes and freckles. None of the "bridal" makeup sites have good ideas, products for me, as a black bride, there's more if I look under latina/olive/biracial, but my BM's are a full range and most have locks. I want us to look fly, not ashy or like a fashion fair model and I'm worried, especially since I don't know a lot about makeup or makeup artists. Any pointers ?
