where y'all at?

Hi y'all! I'm not quite a bride-to-be--yet, but have already started planning my wedding! I currently live in the Boston area, so I've joined that discussion board, but I plan on relocating to Charleston, SC, next spring and getting married in either Asheville, NC, or the Outer Banks, NC, next fall. I would love to chat about locations, planners, vendors, etc. with everyone, especially since I'll be doing the majority of my planning from out-of-state. Can't wait to talk!

Hi there. From Cincinnati Ohio but planning an Aug. wedding at Topsail NC. It has been very hard to plan the wedding from so far away and since it's a small island vendors are scarce.

HI AV, I got married in the outerbanks and had such a blast planning it!  If you have any questions, feel free to page me.

I'm getting married in the Asheville area in 2 weeks. We did almost all of our planning from out of state too.  If anyone has any questions about locations, vendors, resources etc. in that area I'd be glad to share what I"ve learned.

I, too, am marrying in Asheville in 2 weeks (12 days!). We planned from out of state, but have local resources with family and friends there. I'm happy to share what I know!

isn't it such a great state with beautiful mountains and beaches?!

I am in chapel hill, nc but planning for 11/15 in beaufort, nc. our ceremony is at fort macon on atlantic beach!

I hear you on scarcity of beach vendors -- my good friend is planning in San Fran, and it's so funny to hear her talking about narrowing down vendors.. I'm like really? Cos there's only one gal in our location that makes beautiful cakes. It does make things a little easier in some ways!

Have any of you been experiencing a really laid back attitude about contracts from vendors though? that's been a big frustration for us..

missrae,

It is funny that you mentioned contracts. My cake vendor and Florist both were like just give is a call at the beginning of July. I finally got them to do contracts but everything just seems so laid back. But on the flip side of it all you don't have to worry about negotiating with other vendors, it is who it is.  We actually met with the bakery last Aug. and had a tasting A YEAR IN ADVANCE lol. We vacationed at Topsail and while we were there we picked out our reception site, baker, florist and photog. So it will be nice how we pull all this together.

Hi all from Asheville here! As an Asheville native, I'd be glad to help anyone that needs it! I'm getting married May 31st at Hidden River. It's an amazing place and includes everything from the linens to the plates to the centerpieces in their basic package. They have full service packages where they take care of everything vendor wise or they will let you use your own vendors and are SUPER GREAT! I couldn't suggest a better place for the price. Asheville is very much a destination wedding city and the prices reflect that. Let me know if you girls want any more info!

This local board is such a good thing!! I'm getting married in September in Highlands, NC, but I'm doing my planning from SC. We have vendors coming from all over the place - Asheville, Charlotte, Greenville, Raleigh, Wilmington ... yikes, I'm getting nervous just thinking about it! I also grew up in Raleigh, so all in all, I've become an NC expert. ;-)

Anyone else getting married in or around Highlands (or know anything about it you can recommend)? I'm also happy to share my vendor finds and any other 2 cents, if anyone's interested ...

Good luck with your planning. ladies!

Hi everyone! I'm getting married in Asheville this coming July 19th, at Claxton Farm.  Anyone know of a good hairstylist in Asheville, for wedding styles or updos?  Please send me a message if you need any info about other vendors in Asheville. I'd be happy to help. I live in Charlotte NC, but we've researched Asheville a lot.
