@Bulba:  Oh, please PLEASE post pictures when you have them.  A winter wedding in Ireland?  Oh Ehm Gee.

Cannot believe we are 5 months out already…  We’re prepping docs for the certificate (getting married in the Bahamas) and also completing my wedding look.  So exciting!

I’ve had a whole year and a half to plan, and I’m still stressed, so you ladies are an inspiration!

We’re getting married in a lovely church in my hometown, and the reception is in the Grand Hall of a really cozy hotel. It used to be a mansion, but has been converted, and had additions put on for guest rooms. Think exposed beams, a balcony level, giant fireplace (which will be lit), and huge picture windows out onto the snow.

Our colours are dark green, ivory, and gold. So excited!

@Bulba:  That’s awful, I’m sorry 🙁 Stay positive, and keep going! That’s definitely the best thing to do, especially if other people are refusing to budge.

@Bulba:  It’s in London, Ontario. So amazing! FI and I made the mistake of looking at it before we knew the price, and totally fell in love. Luckily, we worked it out so that it fit in our budget, and conveniently, guests who need to stay over night can just move up to their rooms after the reception is over.

Here’s a pic of the Grand Hall, taken from the perspective of where the head table will be, with your back to the wall of windows 🙂

@MissVisuality:  Can’t believe my daughter’s wedding is FIVE MONTHS FROM TODAY!!!  Your list is an excellent checkpoint, and I guess we’re doing better than I thought, considering she’s at a summer job out of town and all planning has come to a halt for now.  Here’s where we are, using your list:

What’s Done:

Church (booked)

Priest (booked)

Reception venue, including food, drinks, linens, etc. (booked, deposit paid, menu set)

Photographer (booked, deposit paid)

Flowers (booked, deposit paid)

Dress (half paid, due late September)

Shoes (paid)

Rings (designs chosen, to be custom made from family jewelry in October)

Groom/Groomsmen’s Suits (selected)

Save the Dates (none for us – we’re just mailing invitations in early Sept.)

Ceremony Musicians (reserved, need to contact)

DJ (reserved, deposit paid)

Bridesmaids Dresses (3 of 5 ordered, need to nudge the girls I guess)

Flowergirls’ Dresses (planning to shop when bride returns in August)

Cake (reserved, need to arrange tasting, baker is on maternity leave)

Transportation (arranged through hotel at half price!)

Hair stylist booked, trials scheduled for bride and MOG

To Do:

Invitations (DIY supplies purchased – need to print and assemble)

Registries (after bride returns)

Favours (may not do favors)

Veil and accessories (will choose when dress is here)

Ceremony Programs (paper purchased, plenty of time to print)

Marriage Preparation Course (they booked it – September, I think?)

Place cards (bought, will print the week before the wedding)

Seating Chart (have a spreadsheet set up, will add guests as RSVPs arrive)

Centrepiece Decorations (selected – working on some DIY to augment florist, under her instruction. Mtg w/ florist 08/11)

Photography Shot List (not even close, but plenty of time)

DJ Music List (same as photo shot list)

My daughter and I both teach, so we are trying to get as much done before school starts as possible.  We have also scheduled time off the week of Thanksgiving.  Hope we are not running around going crazy the week of the wedding – what am I forgetting?

@nemoandthebrain:  That makes perfect sense! I am thankful enough to have all of my family and friends close by the event location and will not have any out of town guests 🙂
