i know that you can use any san diego public park district (including most beaches). you just need a permit. ($250 i believe).
the only problem is that you cannot keep the public out. you have not reserved the space, it's still a public beach, the permit is just so you can legally set up stuff and have a big group there.
as long as you're okay with sunbathers, even loud kids running around nearby, i know that this permit ordeal works wonderfully for a beach ceremony.

as far as the reception/caterer goes, i am not sure. i know that i have seen a wedding take place at la jolla cove where they had both ceremony and reception with catered food. but, i don't know anything about the logistics. sorry.
good luck. :)
thank you for your help melodicsighs. I've heard of weddings at La Jolla Cove through La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, but unfortunately one has to be a "member" in order to hold their party there...I need to either have a member sponser me or rent minimum number of rooms...then they'll share information with me. Bummer!
The Powerhouse Community Center in Del Mar is very nice. Its right on the beach and allows catering. If you can be flexible with your days like having it on a Friday or Sunday, it may be easier to get a venue on such a short time frame.

You can pull off your wedding. It just gives you less time to second guess yourself.
www.thespicycreations.com is my caterer. He used to be the head catering chef for Cafe Sevilla and has worked with Many San Diego caterers. He's just starting his own business so he is very reasonable.
Oh you could have the wedding at the cuvier park and the reception near by on the roof of La Jolla Cove Suites. I've worked with Debbie Thomas from Elijah´s. She's awesome. She was the president of the National Association of Catering Execs & International Special Events Society.
Congratulations! You are in luck. My fiance and I were looking for the same type of thing. We are having lots of out of town guests and wanted a beach like venue with our own caterer and where the it would be like a semi-reunion as well.
Here is what I found:
Grand Beachfront Rooftop wedding
This was our next option, but we decided on Ocean View Villas instead.
Seagrove Park Del Mar which is a public park is $500 just for the permit. Includes nothing.
Private message me if you want to talk more specifically. I can also give some recommendations on make-up, photography, and other things. I currently live in Chicago but was born and raised in San Diego and having our wedding in San Diego as well. Good luck!

I am a bride-to-be and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed! Anyone out there feel the same way?
I'm new to the San Diego area. I live in Vista and work in Carlsbad.
I want to have a wedding in the area, prefer to be close to the beach. Outdoor ceremony...can i have one the beach in carlsbad?
I would like to use a caterer, but haven't found any location that would allow it.
I haven't done anything and the wedding is supposed to be 3 1/2 months away! I don't know if I can handle this!
Please, please Help me San Diego!
