Ohhh - a Maine wedding would be awesome! Guests would love it and it's such an easy drive. We live in Boston but got married last month in Savannah, GA. I'm from Ky and my new husband is from Boston. Instead of making all the MA people travel to KY, we chose a neautral location and turned it into a DW for everybody.
I'm from the Boston area. When the time comes, I'm going to be looking into Rhode Island. I found the prices to be much more reasonable there then in the Boston area and even a lot of Southern NH areas. I think that NH is now a found secret, while RI is still hiding! :-)
FI is from Boston, im italian lived in florida for 4 yrs and now 2 yrs in MA. we are getting married in watertown and reception will be in one of the hotel in Cambridge.. not too much trouble for parking since valet parking would be free for our guests! we decided to have our venue in the city so it was a easier access for our guests since pretty much everyone lives in the city and also because we have a lot of guests coming from out of state (so it will be eaasier for them to get to the reception from the airport).
our first option was Wrentham lake pearl luciano's! really lovely place but my concern was for all my out of state guests to do not how to get to wrentham from the airport, and an other option was lake view Pavillion i think in foxborough...it is worth it to check both!
My husband's cousin had her ceremony & reception at the Essex Inn of the New England Culinary Institute, right outside of Burlington, VT. Beautiful location. She had an outdoor ceremony, indoor reception and later, an outdoor bonfire for s'mores. Her parents rented a coach bus to transport people from a central location in Boston to/from the wedding.

Me and my FH are located in Boston:)) Our wedding will be at the Oceanview Inn & Resort in Gloucester, MA. Its beautiful and we both love the ocean so its perfect.
FI and I are both from Boston...but having our wedding in the Domincan Republic.
We live on the south shore... We are getting married in Nantucket Island! We both met out there working after college, and are getting married at the place he worked at. Can't wait!
We live in NH, right over the MA border...about 40 minutes to Boston.
We are getting married in Portsmouth, NH
I live in Boston but I'm not getting married here. But I wanted to add that both Mrs. Gloss and Mrs. Tiramisu had BEAUTIFUL Maine weddings, you should check them out!
FI and I are both from the Cape. We've rented a hall for our ceremony and reception. Its a pretty big place with a stage for the bands. The price was perfect.
FI and I also live on the south shore but are getting married just north of Boston in Woburn. :)
FI and I from Boston too! Our reception is going to be at the State Room and I am SO EXCITED!!!
@Saeliz! where in woburn? i used to work for the Hilton in woburn on Forbes rd!
We live in southeastern MA, on the RI border but love the Cape so we're getting married in Falmouth. I love that we're having a 'sort of destination' but only an hour away so planning has been easy.
@Shaema Falmouth, you say? What's your venue, if you don't mind sharing? We've been eyeing the Coonamessett there, and a few other places as well.
My fiance and I are both from the Boston area. Neither of us had ever lived otuside of New England (him never outside of the Boston area) until this fall when we picked up and moved to northern California for my new job. It has been a crazy adventure for us. We love Cali, but we both also miss Boston a ton, and hope to move back in a few years. We're getting married this summer in Bar Harbor Maine. We've spent a lot of time up there together, and it just seemed like the right place for us to tie the knot. I think it also would have been cool to get married in downtown Boston though...
I'm from the Natick area, FI is from NY. We're getting married at St. Ignatius at Boston College (where we met, and where he proposed!) then the reception will be at Spring Valley Country Club in Sharon, MA. I looked at SO many venues, but since we didn't want a hotel or a tented wedding, it narrowed down our options a lot! We are so excited! Good luck planning!
@bimba-Woburn Country Club-we are still unsure of where the rehearsal dinner will be!
Hi Bostonbaby: We're getting married at the Falmouth Yacht Club. Our wedding is small-ish (85 people) so it's perfect for us. My family is throwing a 75th birthday party for my mom the day after the wedding at the Coonamesett.....I'll let you know what I think about it ;o)
I know it's probably a bit farther than you were thinking, but I went to a wedding in Stratton, VT, last fall, and it was one of the best I've ever attended. They made a full weekend out of it, and it was beautiful, the lodging was great and very reasonable, and there's a cute little ski village to hang out in. The food was excellent--they had dinner Friday, the wedding Saturday, and brunch on Sunday. Definitely a destination wedding feel to it--it was great.
@saeliz! i know where it is! haha one of the girls i used to owrk with at the hotel had her reception there and her bridal shower at the hotel(she got it for cheap bc she was an employee)
@skibobrown We love Bar Harbor! As campers and hikers we've always loved Acadia... spent a week there last year. A wedding would be so beautiful -- are you planning on using the Margaret Todd for you/your guests?
@Shaema Oh definitely let me know how the birthday party goes!
As overwhelming as it's been trying to narrow down our choices, I think we're all pretty lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country (in all seasons!).
I live near Boston (ish) and we are getting married at Butternut Country Club in Stow, MA. I am also not up for a city wedding (financially and stress wise).
We got engaged in Bar Harbor, ME. It was amazing and so beautiful!
@BostonBaby: Sorry for the delayed response! I've never been on the Margaret Todd. We usually stay with friends up in Bar Harbor and we tend to stick to hiking in the park and other less touristy activities. It looks like a cool ship though. We'll be in Bar Harbor for a week and a half for our wedding, so I'm hoping we'll get to do some of the touristy stuff that we usually miss out on.
@afuturemrsl: Yay! Another New England bride with Bar Harbor connections! I bet a wedding in Stow will be gorgeous :-)

Are you from the area? Planning a local wedding or more of a destination, perhaps around New England? Introductions, please!
For myself: I'm from the south shore, as is FI. We know we're not up for a city wedding (I just can't handle the OOT guests' parking nightmare), so we're looking at lovely venues around MA, the Cape, and maaaaybe southern ME or NH if conditions were right.
