A friend of mine traveled overseas with her wedding dress changing 2 planes and everytime she  asked the flight attendant to hang her dress in the captains closet.

If you can, find a place to steam it when you arrive.  That way, you could actually pack it in a suitcase. 

 

If sending it to be steamed isn’t going to happy, carry it in a garment bag and board early (when the call is made for those who need more time to board).  The closet on most planes is only waist high, so giving it to a flight attendant to hang might not be the best idea.  That closet is sometimes where the flight crew stashes their things.

When I flew home from the salon with my gown, I layed it in one over head bit.  I had to fold it in half, but it worked just fine.  I closed the bin door before anyone else got on, which is the signal that the bin is full.  The one or two people who opened it, saw that it was full and closed it right away.

The last time I was on a flight, there was a bride with a dress and once the flight attendants realized there was an open seat, they let her “sit” the dress up in the seat.

 

There are lots of options.  Don’t freak out.  It will be just fine.  🙂
