I’m trying to choose a wedding location and have no idea where to start. I want a 4-5 star resort with lush landscape and a beautiful beach. We’re trying to find something in the USVI, Bermuda, Aruba, or Florida. Has anyone had a destination wedding at a beach resort any of these places? If so, please tell me where and cost per plate (or total wedding package). I’m trying to keep it $15,000 or under since my fiance and I would much rather a bigger house (AND POOL!) than a giant wedding. Any advice anyone could give would be great! Thanks!!! 🙂

I live in Florida and looked at a lot of places along the coast before I selected my venue.
Can I ask how MANY guests you plan on having? It makes a big difference when you’re factoring cost per plate.
Also is $15k your ENTIRE wedding budget, or just what you’re looking to spend on your venue/catering?

@mdoodles: We got married a few weeks ago in the USVI at the Wyndham resort. It was absolutely gorgeous. Very lush and green. We stayed at a condo, because we wanted the house vibe as well. It was easy to find online and book. We went with a wedding coordinator, her packages started at 400 and went up to 9k for an extravagent wedding and reception. We went to dinner at a place called “a room with a view” as our reception restaurant. It was very nice, they required a thousand dollar minimum, and a 500 deposit to book our party. The plates were about 55 per person before drinks and apps.

@rachelmichelle: I’d like $15k to cover the entire wedding (minus the dress) since we’re only having 20-30 guests. Know that’s a small budget, but I’m keeping the guest list small and insisting on NO GIFTS. If it wouldn’t have hurt our mothers, my fiance and I would be eloping.

@ECoconut1: Could you send me the name of your wedding coordinator?? I looked at the Wyndham USVI and I was pricing around $25,000 for 25 people. I would love to hire someone to help me negotiate and package prices! Thanks for the tip!
