My husband and I just got a 6 week old puppy he was a rescue and I know that he is young but we couldn’t leave him in the situation that he was in.
We got him almost a week ago and everything was going perfectly until this morning… I woke up like usual and took him out to go potty and then feed him. Every morning he is usually pretty hungry and eats all his food. This morning about a quarter of the way through he stopped eating and started whining. I took him outside thinking maybe he had to go again. He was running around and playing but didn’t have to pee. We went back inside and he just sat down facing away from me and then walked over to his bed and started vomiting. It was mostly the food he just ate and what looked like the treats we give him when he goes potty. After this he wouldn’t go near his food and just sat there looking at me. I sat with him for a while and then took a shower and checked on him, he ate a little more food and was playing. Before I left for work I took him out again and then he went to sleep. My sister in law is off today so she will be checking on him and I am going there on my lunch and if he seems off I will be taking him to my mom’s so she could keep a close eye on him.
Also he hasn’t had shots yet as the vets in our area said he is too young. We are bringing him next saturday they said by then he should be old enough and he does have worms and fleas. He was in bad shape but is still to little for us to do anything per the vet.

I’m no expert but it sounds like he just had a stomach ache. Puppies eat everything they can so he probably ate something that upset his stomach. I think it sounds like a good sign that after he threw up he took some time, then ate a little and then went to sleep. I wouldn’t worry unless it keeps happening for a few days. Then I’d take him to the vet! Also if he has worms that could be something upsetting his tummy!

The fleas can be treated with diataneous earth right now. I have dusted puppy at 1 wk. The worms might be what is making him sick and he probably needs a good dewormer. I don’t know why the vet said he is too young.

@beeberonibri: Thank you for your advice I may be a little to emotionally involved so that is making this seem worse also.
@secondchances: Thank you for your reply I will get diataneous earth today!!! I am not sure why the vet is saying this also. I know he is young and everyone I have spoken to is like take him back to his mother and that is not an option! It is so frustrating…

Dogs puke from time to time, and it’s usually no big deal BUT make sure someone actually SEES the dog poop sometime today. Dogs will eat anything and everything, even if it upsets their tummy or blocks them up :/ He could have eaten something that has blocked his intestines which will cause him to throw up what he eats (because it has nowhere else to go).
If he poops, he is probably ok. If he is acting listless or lethargic and isn’t pooping, or straining to poop but can’t, then it’s time to run to the vet.
He probably just ate too quickly or got into something that gave him an upset tummy though.

Also, if he develops diarrhea, or becomes lethargic take him in right away. In a puppy that young, it could be parvo.
