I could really use the help of the ladies….I’m in Afghanistan trying to put together an engagement ring for the greatest woman on earth so I can propose when I rotate home in a few weeks. I see this particular setting on Shane’s website and curious if anyone has a real picture of it on a hand. Looking for something a little different/unique/classy but worried its gonna be huge in real life. I could give her play-dough with a pin head size diamond and she would be happy, but want to give her somthing special. On the flip side, no matter what I give her….I know that she would not return, replace, upgrade…..ever…even if I suggested it, so I gotta get this right the first time. Curious if anyone had pics…..or even just thoughts or opinions? Was thinking of around 1ct, or possibly .8 of higher quality. She has a size 6 finger.

First, let me say thanks for your service to our country. I’m sure you have been missed while you were away. 🙂
Beautiful ring!! I just looked on the Shane Co website, hoping for the width of the band, and the description did not provide it. To go at this from another direction: Do you know your GFs ring size? If she’s petite, she will probably have smaller fingers, and this might just overwhelm them. If she’s taller, then even if she wears a small ring size, her fingers are probably long enough to handle something of this size. Sorry I can’t offer any other help!
Is it important to have a ring when you propose? If she’s at all particular, perhaps you could choose a ring together?

Flattered, but have to be honest I’m just here getting paid well to support the guys doing the real work. It is a privelede however!
If it helps, she is about 5’6″, average, and a ring size 6.

This ring is lovely. And, let me say, my husand bought my wedding jewelry from Shane Co 10 years ago and we’ve been very happy with both quality and service. Congrats on your upcoming engagement!

@Clueless777: Do you know what stone shape you plan on getting? That can make a really big difference on how a ring looks depending on her finger shape. I’m 5′ 4″ ring size 6 with short stubby fingers and small hands. I ended up getting an oval because it helps elongate my fingers a bit whereas a round (I tried on my mom’s 3 stone) just emphasized the stubbyness. I have a sapphire so the carat weight is not equivalent to diamond, but my stone is 7mm X 5mm. Here’s what that looks like on a size 6 to give you an idea of finger coverage
I would also guess that the band thickness isn’t too different from the setting you posted either.

@Clueless777: I really love that ring, and I think a .8-1.00 ct stone would fit nicely into it.
I think it would look great on a size 6 finger. A few other questions: does she like “blingy” things? Does she wear jewelry typically? If so, what type? If she doesn’t wear jewelry a lot, and doesn’t like anything flashy, that might be a bit much. However, I think it’s very classy and elegant.
I also want to echo a message of gratitude for your service. Every single member of our military is a hero to me.

Thank you, the pic of the thickness does help. Was thinking Princess Cut which depending on the weight should have a face in the neighborhood of 4.5-5mm X 4.5-5mm. She ALWAYS has the necklace on a gave her a few years ago. Otherwise its usually a watch or bracelet. As far as “blingy”, not really. however she is from Eastern Europe and I notice here lean towards silver a lot with the same kind of ornate engraving.
I really do appreciate it a lot but I’m 100% civilian and all I do is fly the “real people” and/or thier stuff from place to place. I get to go home regularly….these kids get stuck out here for 9-12+ months. Trust me….they deserve thanks way more than I!
