Okay, girls, I have a question for you and I really need your opinion.  My daughter is getting married on June 12th in an outdoor wedding in Mississippi.  She found a beautiful lace dress with a black sash and her bridesmaids are wearing long black halter type dresses.  I've gone dress shopping and haven't been pleased with what I've seen, most are dresses with jackets.  Well, first off, it's going to be hot, Mississippi hot, and second I'm just not a jacket type of person.  I've tried one one dress several times that I love, but it is strapless with a fan top and a bright pink.  My bride daughter and my other two daughters say this is fine, but some of my friends say that I shouldn't do strapless and definately not bright pink.  So if it were your mom, what would you say?

    Help!

I say go for it. The pink "goes" with the black and white/cream and if you're comfortable with it...go for it. Especially if your daughter doesn't mind...she is the bride :)

I was begging my mom to buy a 1 shoulder bright pink dress!! I say go for it. Both my mom and my FMIL will be wearing strapless dresses. They are both having boleros made - but neither are the type to wear the bolero for the reception, really just the ceremony.

well pink's my favorite color so i'd be very happy about it! but either way, i just wanted my mom to be comfortable with what she was wearing, so i'd say if you like it, wear it! would your daughter tell you the truth if she didn't like it?

If you love it, look great in it, and your daughter loves it too, go for it! I'm hoping to find something like that for my Mom.

By the way, if you have pictures, feel free to post them!

I think mom's of the bride should just wear whatever they feel amazing in. My mom has a difficult body type to work with, and she found that most "bridal" stores just didn't have what she needed. She ended up finding a ton of options as department stores, and especially, Nordstrom.com!

As long as the dress and the color look good on you, that's all that matters. I told my mom to wear whatever, and she radiance is what made her beautiful that day.

I'm happy to let my Mum wear whatever she pleases (as long as it's not white). I want her to wear whatever she feel's most comfortable with.

I've always told my mom to wear whatever makes her feel good and look good.  She feels more comfy in pantsuits so that's what she wore to my brother's wedding. But she thinks she might wear a long dress for mine.  So whatever you think you feel good in is all that matters!

I was begging my mom not to wear a "frumpy" dress. And thats because she is not a frumpy type person. I say go for it, you will look beautiful next to your daughter.. the both of you glowing. You should be happy with how you look! Your daughter seems to think your dress choice is just fine, don't listen to your friends. I think everything will go just fine!

EDIT: That DRESS IS AWESOME. YOU MUST PICK THIS DRESS!!

If you're comfortable in it, wear it!  Your friends are just jealous (they proabably don't have the figure to wear it).

If you're comfortable in it and you feel confidant in it - go for it!! My future mother in law could totally pull off a strapless dress but she doesn't feel comfortable wearing strapless, so she got something different.

If your daughters love it and you love it - I say congrats! :)

I LOVE that dress!  You should buy it!

I'm having a summer wedding in Houston (so I undersand Mississippi HOT).  You do not want to wear a jacket. If it makes you feel better, my mom is wearing not wearing a jacket either and she's wearing bright peacock blue.

I desperately wish my mom would pick a rockin' dress like that! If your daughter is on board, no one else's opinion but your matters. If this dress makes you feel like a million bucks, then I say go for it!

    That is a gorgeous dress!!

I didn't care about the color of my mom's dress until I was in the shop trying on dresses with her.  The ladies there said the MOB should have more of a muted color (so as to not POP in all the pictures) - they used 'red' as the example.  The lady helping me had a red top on and stood next to me in my dress.  She definitely 'popped'!

I think that's why your friends are turning you away from the bright color.

Also - just a thought - but, will it make a difference to you what color the MOG is wearing?

I say - if you'll be comfortable in it - and your daughter doesn't care - GO FOR IT!!!

My mom and I agreed that typical MOB dresses just looked too old on her!  Too much beading and glitzy weirdness.  She's not a Golden Girl!  I told her she didn't have to pick a MOB dress, especially anything with a jacket and shoulder pads.  ::shudder::  My wedding was in July that would have been SO uncomfortable!  She ended up wearing this instead:

Help a Mother Of The Bride : wedding 2710188221 400

Not a MOB dress, and it has a white background, but I didn't care.  She looked beautiful in it!  And she can wear it again.  If your daughter likes the pink dress, then go pink!  I would suggest taking a picture of yourself in the dress outside in the sun to see if you look good photographed in it.  Some colors/dresses are better than others in outdoor photography.

Thanks!  I just needed some more opinions.  The shop has it in my size right now.  I been in four times and tried it on, two.  I just didn't want anyone saying, "Did you see what she wore, can you believe it!"

My mother wore a similar strapless dress in silver to my wedding, and she looked beautiful.  I think it is a lovely dress, and hope that you have a wonderful time at the wedding!
