I’m freaking out.
So my boyfriend of four years went to his hometown for a few days, when he got back and was in our bedroom unpacking I wentt in to sit and chat with him. He was putting his things away and was acting kind of weird, and I saw him put what I at first assumed was his phone in his pocket, I just saw a flash of black dissapear. Then he left really quickly with a kind of suspicious half smile.
Then he made some offhand comment a few days later about it being weird seeing such large amounts of money sitting on his credit card, and that struck me as odd because I couldn’t remember him buying anything out of the ordinary the past month.
So my mind got to whirlling, and I remembered how weird he’d been with his phone lately (he left me alone with it after showing me a text from his mom, and about two seconds after he left he yelled for me, when I came out to see what was up he said he just wanted to see if I could hear him… right.) He was also weird when I moved his bag from the corner where he left it in our room while cleaning.
Then I was a terrible bad too nosey for my own good person and looked in the bag and saw a little black box and opened it with my eyes half shut telling myself it was all in my head because not two months ago he was talking about how engagement rings were an archaic tradition and a waste of money, and he probably just brought home a class ring or something. All I know now is there’s a decidedly not men’s ring in it and it’s white gold and kind of antiquey looking. I closed it right away and put it back but now I’m sitting on the couch willing myself to not look because I don’t want to spoil the surprise anymore than I already have.
Has anyone else let their curiosity get the better of them and ruined the surprise? Have I really ruined the surprise? I mean, I imagine when he actually proposes I’ll still feel all the o-so-excited-is-this-really-happening emotions, right?

Haha you did the same thing I did. I half opened the ring box with my eyes half closed too haha. You will still be super excited and happy when it happens. He might even wait a while to throw you off (guys are mean).

It sounds like you didn’t really get a great look at the ring anyway, so you haven’t totally ruined your ring surprise! Just don’t go back there to get a closer look 😉 And you still have no idea when or how he will propose, so I think you are still going to be extremely surprised. 🙂 Congratulations, though! That’s so exciting and I hope the proposal comes soon!!

Did you like it!?!?! Whenever I think about scenarios like that I always picture Carrie from Sex and the City peeking at Aiden’s ring and throwing up because she hated it! I don’t think you really ruined it. You just might have accidentally signed up for a little too much suspence. Think of it like Christmas morning if Christmas wasn’t on a set day! You know it’s coming, you know you’ve got a present for you under the tree, but you’re still waiting in excited anticipation!

Well he wasn’t very discreet, about it now, was he? Lol. I can’t wait to see it!

Sunflower3: I snooped and saw my ring beforehand, and as I was trying it on (wow, I am awful), my dog got ahold of the ring box and chewed it to pieces. My Fiance was devastated when I fessed up, but the proposal was still awesome and overwhelming, and trying on the ring for the second time was even better than the first, because it was mine! Good luck, can’t wait to hear about the proposal!

Sunflower3: haha, how exciting! Even if you did ruin the surprise a little, who cares. It was a surprise when you first saw the box, right? And now you will have fun being so excited and looking forward to the impending proposal!
