After yet another all-nighter this week (it’s finals week) I was just settling into my pillows after turning my paper in online, when I look up to see a hornet crawling just inches from my face in the netting that hangs over my bed. Panicking, I manage to make it out of my room but left behind my glasses and my dignity. Now I am cowering out here in the living room contemplating bequeathing my room to the hornet, and trawling weddingbee to try to distract me from going into full panic attack mode.
In case you couldn’t tell, I have severe apisphobia, even though I have never personally been stung. Do any of you gals have fears or phobias that incapacitate you like this? And does anyone know how long it would take a hornet to die if I shut him inside the room without access to food?

I share the same fear as you. I have bad anxiety when it comes to bees of any sort near me. I scream, run, and cry.

My husband would tell you, I’m a wimp when it comes to bugs. Even the tiniest of all tiny have me screaming for him.

I am not a fan of any bugs, but I can suck it up and take care of any other kind… but if it stings, I am paralyzed with fear. The odd thing is, I have never even been stung (yet, knock on wood)! But everyone else in my immediate family is allergic so I rue the day I find out where I stand…
sigh. I really just wanted to go to sleep.

Spray it with hairspray. This will make its legs/wings stick so it can’t move. You will be able to kill it and dispose of it quickly.

@Georgia Bee: I was JUST about to say that. It’s the only reason I buy hairspray.

@Georgia Bee: thank you so much for the tip! when I worked up the courage to go back in there, I couldn’t find him, but I have hairspray, raid, and hot shot strategically placed around my room, and some tennis shoes… so I am ready for battle!

@dolphindoll: I suggest you get someone to come kill it, or get your some spray >.>
But I have a few of ANTS. I cannot stand ants. I run away from them if they’re on anything of mine. I have an ant problem in my room, and mind you I am the cleanest of five … and no one else in this house has ANTS but me! T_T I have sprayed several times, I have even went as far as to put baby powder down (which does confuse them) and have ant bait traps up now. I have seen maybe one or two here and there, thank God. I just hope when summer officially arrives they do not reappear in droves…or I’m getting on the next bus to Nevada and moving in with my FMIL / BF lol…both would probably welcome me with very open arms >.>
