I’m having a winter wedding at a chateau venue. Tried on these two dresses today and I think one of them is the ONE, but which one? I love them both.
Pros – Simple, classic, and beautiful. Love the super long train with beading. Heavy satin material feels like good quality.
Con – Maybe too plain? One of my BMs thought it was too architectural and harsh (matter of personal taste).
Essense of Australia
Pros – Vintage look, I love the draped pearls and unique back, I’ve been lusting after this dress online forever. Just enough bling with the beading.
Cons – Material felt cheap (taffeta), skirt not ball gown-y enough for me so need to add something underneath.
(I would alter the waist so it would hit higher and be more proportionate.)
So which dress and why? Thanks in advance!

@Jewelieee: Right now the pronovias looks better because it fits your body. However, I see the potential in the Essence and I think that it will blow the pronovias out of the water once it is altered!

I love LOVE the top of the Essence of Australia, but not the bottom. Too shiny. I love the way the Pronovias fits on you, but it is a bit plain. Can you dress it up with some sparkles? Both are beautiful on you!

@Jewelieee: I was going to say the Essence until you said it was taffeta. If you go with the Pronovias then why not try a blinged sash, or have someone add some bling?

@Payless: Yeah the Pronovias was one size smaller than the Essense (both not being my size obviously). Also the more complicated top of the Essense made it harder to look good with just clamps and stuff.
@MrsUPS: The Essense is also like 3x the price of the Pronovias which I can get as a sample. I know Essense of Australia isn’t an expensive designer but I thought it would be satin at least.

@Jewelieee: Oh yeah, definitely the Pronovias then!

I think the Essense gown would be beautiful for chateau wedding. I find the crumbcatcher neckline of the Pronovias a bit dated, to be honest.

@Jewelieee: I prefer the Essense for a chateau wedding, too. The back is to die for and the bodice and neckline very flattering. I have seen this dress in person and it didn’t look cheap to me.
I don’t really like the neckline of the first one, plus the waistline is too low and adding bulk around the lower abdomen (if you could raise the waistline, I would like it more).

@Jewelieee: assuming that you can get that 2nd dress altered to fit you, it is fab. the first one is veyr nice, though, I like it. But that 2nd one, yowza!

@Jewelieee: I love the classic elegance of the Pronovias and if you want to do something to add some pizzazz I’d do a blingy sash.

@Jewelieee: Tough choice! I prefer the first dress…I love the neckline and the ‘grandness’ of the train. The second one is beautiful but I’m not liking the satin skirt…too much contrast to the vintage glamour of the top.

I voted pronovias because it fits perfectly with your shape 🙂 I also thing it’s more winter like than the other dress. I just dont know how a vintage dress can fit in your wedding venue at a chateaux, just can’t picture it. I also like the first one more because its more classy and elegant and would go great with a chateaux wedding 🙂 hope that helps and good luuck

I’m for the essense dress, but gosh, they’re both gorgeous on you! Don’t think you can go wrong!

I like the 1st dress because I think it flatters your shape better than the 2nd and because you feel the quality is better in the 1st. I’ll admit that the first looks a bit more plain, but the “architectural-ness” of the first makes it stand on its own. It’s unique and classic at the same time. A great choice in my opinion!

I like Essense more. If you decide to with with Essense, I’d suggest to clarify the price of alterations because with all that beading it might be very pricy.
