I am getting married may 18th just over 2 weeks away. I went for my final fitting yesterday, and my dress is 5 inches too short in bare feet!! you can see my ankles. dresses are made to fit 5’9 and I am 5’8 so it should fit almost perfectly, there was no length to be taken off. There is no hem/ extra material room and nothing can be added to fix the dress. I’m absolutely heartbroken. I want a refund so that I can purchasr another dress ASAP!! So far they are not being so cooperative, placing me on hold telling me some one will call back. I’m getting nothing from them. Any advise out there???

Oh no! Besides getting a refund, is it possible that 1) depending on the style of your dress, extra fabric could be added, or 2) a slip or crinoline could go underneath to hide the gap?

How was it before they fit it?

Could you have it cut into a tea or knee length?
This would drive me insane … I’d probably find a new dress and then deal with the return and refund once I’d found something I could actually wear. SO SORRY you’re dealing with this!!

How are you at your final fitting and NOW it’s too short, but you say they took no length off? That makes no sense??? I’m assuming it was fine at your first fitting… So length must have been taken off unless you grew 5″.

You could have a ruffle of tulle, organza or satin added on to the hem. Pics? Or style number?

Tashelley: What was the length like at your other fittings?

I don’t understand OP- was it long enough at your previous fittings? They obviously must have cut off some material if it’s now 5″ too short. If that was the case than I don’t know what Alfred Angelo can do about it. Are you getting it altered at a bridal store? Are they able to offer any of their samples?

OMFG that’s terrible!
Ummm all I can think of is that I saw this thread a while back where the Bee was a bridal shop consultant, maybe you can ask her what you could do and she could give you a knowledgeable perspective?

I’m sorry, I’m confused – this is your final fitting, yes? Was the length messed up before, or did you ask the bridal shop to hem it? If it’s ALWAYS been wrong, then maybe the design house can help you out. But if the bridal shop chopped a bunch off (with or without permission), then it’s on them and calling AA won’t help. Maybe they can offer you a sample dress?
