hi! I went off birth control 5 months ago so we could start TTC immediately after the wedding (NTNP for a few months prior). After coming off BC (pill) I got my period every 32 days for 3-4 months. I cramp on the first day, but not before or after. Now, I haven’t had a period in 40 days. I have had cramping (it felt so many times that I would get my period any moment- EXACTLY like period cramps) on and off for over 2 weeks. No breast tenderness, yet. I took HPTs 5 and 3 days ago, both were stark negatives. I have read that some women dont get BFP on a HPT until they are several weeks KU, but i also know that tests should be accurate for the most part after a missed period. Is it more likely that i am pregnant, or just still feeling the effects of stopping BC?
For reference, we have been NTNP, and could have BD during my FW (not sure). I started charting after stopping BC but havent in a few months.
I plan to test again tomorrow, but would like some opinions on if I am KU and if not, WHAT GIVES?

MissLibra: I have one for July 18 (couldnt get me in sooner) but it feels so far away! Is there anywhere else I can get a more accurate test?

Cycles often get really wacky after coming of BC…and it could take that same 3-4 months (or more) to get to that point as your body regulates or reacts to the change of coming off a daily hormonal pill.
HPTs are usually really good indicators (although there are the very rare circumstances that they don’t register a pregnancy) so I would just keep testing every few days until you either get your period or have your appointment. What kind of tests are you using? FRERs are typically considered the best.

maybe you ovulated late or sometimes longer cycles just happen for no reason. if you are taking HPT and are at least 16 days past ovulation, it should show up if you are pregnant.
i went off BCP 3 months before i started TTC, everything seemed perfect. as soon as we started TTC, my cycles started going wonky. who knows whats happening.

kate02121: I used a FRER two days ago, and not even a faint line. I am hoping i ovulated later than i thought i did, and it was just two early to test. i will get another and test tomorrow AM.
I am not sure if it makes a difference but the times I tested previously, it was mid-day. I didnt realize testing first thing in the AM was best.

shellybee13: I def suffered some insane pregnancy symptoms last month after coming off BC. It’s a toss up, and you really won’t be able to tell anything til the 18th. I know how you feel, I don’t have an appt til the the 21st and there are some things I need to address! But what can you do.

When I went off BC last time I skipped a period. With 2 negative pregnancy tests I would say no, you aren’t pregnant.

shellybee13: If you were going to start trying to conceive AFTER your wedding, why did you not use a backup method of birth control? I’m a little baffled.
But it’s not abnormal to skip periods after quitting oral contraceptives. I didn’t have a period for 6 months after i stopped the first time.

futuremrschristensen: we decided to NTNP until the wedding, when we would start actively trying. I wouldn’t mind being pregnant at the wedding, I would be happy. I guess I added that to the title because some plans would have to change if im
