I have had the worst luck with wedding dresses and I am in need of help! After MANY trials that would only appear on a sitcom, I finally decided on a dress (emerald bridal 9174). I saw the dress in a shop and tried it out. The sample dress fit really well but it was tattered in areas and quite dirty. With little time left, the owner assured me she would order the dress from Emerald Bridal and it would be here in 2 months.
I set my order and everything was going well, until I found out Emerald Bridal CLOSED in 2010!! I called the boutique ordering the dress and asked them how they could order this dress if the company had closed. That is when she told me she would be ordering the dress from an internet site that manufactures them in China (basically a replica place). I do NOT want this and cancelled my order. I really do not want to spend any more time looking for yet ANOTHER dress. Does anyone know were I can find this gown in a sample? Anyone selling this gown (I have also posted in Classifieds)? I really don’t want to go back to that boutique and purchase their sample out of principle. It is NOT ok to lie to your clients. Thank you for any and all help! =)

Sorry, I can’t help with the dress (it’s beautiful, by the way), but I just had to comment on the dress shop. I can’t believe a business would lie to you like that, thinking it’s ok and the same thing to order a replica from China! How can they just act like it’s nothing and almost expected?!

You should report that business to the BBB.

Thank you both. I love this gown. You cannot see it from the front, but it has a long cathedral train =)!!
It seems like every gown I fall in love with (this is the 3rd one out of MONTHS of shopping) turns into a drama swap meet. I think it would be best to find a dress I hate…then I will probably have success LOL! This whole wedding process thus far has been an eye opener. I feel like no one is genuine and it very difficult to trust many individuals. I will just be happy when I finally say “I Do” and I become the new Mrs. D!! =)
@ udlaurak I am writing a review on Yelp to warn other brides. Reporting them to the BBB is another great idea. I will be doing that as well.
@ Jaynee I honestly do not know how they could do something like that. She pointed out that a few of the dresses she had in the shop were from China (her own designs and replica’s) and that no one can tell the difference. I explained to her that regardless, if she is selling a dress with a tag and label that states a designer’s name, I would expect to pay for/receive a dress from that designer. I also noted to her that I personally found her method’s unethical and more than likely illegal. At that point it became a run-around circle and language barrier issue. I just asked to cancel the order and moved on. I suppose when something seems too good to be true it probably is. She was going to include a free veil and free alterations. I suppose I should have seen past all that =(.
If anyone know’s of a gown close to this one please let me know. I am hoping to find this gown or something close.

try some of the pre-owned sites. Or look at other designers with similar dresses.

I think the bridal salon was way wrong. Have you thought about ordering the dress yourself from one of the replica sites? I know quality can be hit or miss, but I also know some bees have gone this route and have been happy. So maybe research the China sites if you can’t find a sample gown somewhere.

That dress is similar to the one I wore, Casablanca B028.

Wow. I thought my luch wiht dresses was bad… That’s bad business! How could they do that without informing you of their “creative fix”? Such a waste of your time. Sorry you had to endure that.
Best of luck finding the dress – it gorgeous!!
