I agree I think the prongs look a little bulky considering the carat weight you have is not small.  They also look custom rather then a pre made head.  I don’t have a solitare but I have a halo solitare and I do not even notice the prongs.  I would send some pics to customer service and see if they can fix it for you.

I don’t hate the way it looks, but I do agree they look a little bulkier than one would expect.  I think it works for the size of the stone, but I think it is up to you on whether you would prefer them to be smaller or not.

ellie17:  i have a .8 MRB from BN, and also felt like the prongs were too bulky. I looked into having them shaved down, but it was really pricey and the jewelers felt like the bulkier prongs could take more knocking.

I kept the prongs as-is and now I don’t even notice. Maybe give it until the end of the return period and see how you feel?

ellie17:  I do think they look a little bulky, but as someone that has snapped prongs before I LOVE bulky ones much more than thin barely there ones.. They just make me feel much more secure about my ring & stone… Really, its up to you though- your the one looking at it daily!

Personally I would find them too bulky for me, but I’ve figured out that this is the one area of rings where I am super picky. I really dislike bulky prongs. I know it’s dissapointed to have to wait longer, but if it’s your engagement ring that you will wear forever, it’s worth it to wait and get exactly the ring you will love. I think your suggestoin of buying the setting at a local jeweller to be a good one. Just make sure that you have insurance on the diamond before you get it set.

ellie17:  Wow! Your ring is BEAUTIFUL!! The color of your stone blows me away, and it looks so amazing set in yellow gold.

I think the prongs might be a little bulky, but not by much. I like the way they look, and I don’t think they make the stone look smaller.

I actually kind of like the bigger prongs. It makes your ring really unique and I think it kind of creates a balance because the ring is really dainty looking but the prongs aren’t. Idk if that makes sense but I likey! Also, just curious, why did BN take a month to get your ring to you?

Yeah they are a tad too thick. But that yellow cushion is to die for!! You should be able to get the prongs shaved down by a local jeweler if you don’t want to send it back to bluenile and have to wait even longer. Congrats it’s a very beautiful ring!
