@ckdexterhaven: Hi - I hear you on the budget thing. I feel like I've looked at every single venue in town and while they're few and far between, there are some less pricey ones if you're willing to put in work. Check out this post for some of the best ones that I found:
How many people are you having? Have you considered doing a restaurant or something similar (somewhere that may consider letting you have the space for the price of food?)
I agree with checkign mercury hall... and doing it on a friday or a sunday to same more. good luck.
I did a hometown reception downtown at Scholz Garten. We had a great BBQ dinner for 100 people for around $2000. Check them out for sure!
I'llput my two cents for what its worth and after looking at all 3 venues I'd choose houseonthe hill.Choose a Sunday evening for 6 hours or Friday. You can have an outside or inside wedding. Also you are able to bring your own food.In otherwords, if someone in the family wants cook and serve a meal then that would save you alot of money.
Let us know what you choose.
Check out the CTC garden; its run by a nonprofit and really 'Austin-y'...March would be a beautifull time of year to have it there. Costs are like $200 per hour.
Check out the Comfort the Children webpage for more details.
Well, not for a reception but for a ceremony cheap, the Children's Home in RR has this BEAUTIFUL chapel and there are several locations close by that aren't breaking the bank for receptions.
Check into the Zilker Clubhouse. There's a lottery system to get it, and you'll have to rent tables/chairs, but it is incredibly reasonable and beautiful!
Alright ladies, thanks for all theinput! I finally went with Star Ranch in Hutton, they are really reasonable

Alright gals, I am kinda freaking out because I feel so far behind getting things in place for our March 2012 wedding. I am having difficulty parting with money because we are on a budget, hopefully we can get a nice wedding for $5000. But the venue is so hard to choose because I haven't been able to find anything below 2500-3500 and I just feel like that will put us over budget. Help......any out of the ordinary venues that might bring a deal and a memorable wedding...no zoos, I heard someone say that and I just don't dig that option..lol. But if you have any suggestions or know of a great deal in Austin area/Round Rock please send them my way
