WE have just started getting some quotes back.  It depends on the time of year, where you are flying out of, and the resort/location you choose… November and the beginning of December (before Christmas) are much cheaper, and just after Christmas spikes in price.

We would be flying out of Calgary and wanted to fly out just after Christmas, but we are having a hard time finding anything under $2000/person for all inclusive.  In November/early Dec the same resorts were typically between $1500-1800/person.  I included some of the quotes we have gotten so far:

Jamaica – taxes of $363.11 per person are in addition to the rates below.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton- Jr. Suite Imperial Club

Nov. 23, 2013 – $1472 per adult, $623 per child age 2, $641 per child ages 3-12

Dec. 28, 2013 – $2129 per adult, $830 per child age 2, $1397 per child ages 3-12

Jan. 4, 2014  – $1625 per adult, $722 per child age 2, $1091 per child ages 3-12

Feb. 15, 2014 – $1724 per adult, $722 per child age 2, $1145 per child ages 3-12

Mayan Riviera – taxes of $319.30 per person are in addition to the rates below.

Barceló Maya Colonial – Superior Room Prestige Class

Nov. 23, 2013 – $1463 per adult, $938 per child ages 2-12

Dec. 28, 2013 – $2021 per adult, $1415 per child ages 2-12

Jan. 4, 2014  – $1571 per adult, $1055 per child ages 2-12

Feb. 15, 2014 – $1670 per adult, $1091 per child ages 2-12

Mayan Riviera – taxes of $319.30 per person are in addition to the rates below.

Azul Fives – Deluxe Room

Nov. 23, 2013 – $1715per adult, $668 per child age 2, $704 per child ages 3-12

I can’t really say anything about averages, but mine is costing around $1300 per adult for a week in an all-inclusive (Dreams Villamagna in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico) and airfare from Edmonton, which is in Canada, so about a 5-6 hour flight.

I didn’t have a destination wedding, but we made friends with some of a wedding party we met down in Puerto Vallarta and they said they had to shell out about $1500 each for an all-inclusive 5 day stay at the resort (Dreams Puerto Vallarta) and that was including a group discount…

Funny enough, FI and I booked via Orbitz with a coupon code and only paid $800 each.

@AdriannaJean:  sounds like a pretty great rate you found!  Do you mine me asking what your dates are for travel at this rate?

We are facing the challenge of fitting university students and several school teachers schedules into our date (these are main/important people in our wedding)… so we are finding that the expensive times to travel (christmas and reading week in February) are the only times that really work 🙁   We are getting a bit frustrated with rates and a decent resort at that time of year, so we are considering screwing it and doing it in November regardless of everyone else’s schedule.  Thoughts?

@eurochick07:  We had Punta cana on our list at first, it wasn’t just the price, it was the inconvenience of getting a Officiant to marry us.  They only have two ppl who do it in all of Punta cana. one for the East end, one for west.  Every time we found a date we thought might work..that particular hotel we tried getting everything organized with would come back saying the officiant didn’t have availability….so i highly recommend unless you are doing a symbolic ceremony, to check for dates available to be married first.  We ended up going with Cuba because it was more reasonably priced. For April 18th for 7nights 8days at we are paying $1128 per person out of Toronto departure

We fly out of toronto in January. We are staying in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. We are staying one week at an all inclusive resort for about 1400 per person (that is including taxes). We are flying out on a wednesday/ Sorta inconvenient but it saved us like 300 per guest….and reallly….you still have to book off the same amount of days? So it wasnt a big deal.

We’re doing Mexico… here are my tips!

1. I chose Mexico, even though we were originally not even thinking about it because we kept hearing that they do a better job for less money. Not sure if it’s true, but we found a great resort (Now Jade, $1400-1600/pp/7nights).

2. We found group rates really unhelpful adn way more expensive than people buying online (expedia, bookit, etc.). The group rate expires after 30 days, which doesn’t give people enough time to book…

Good luck!

@nibbler:  I was curious to know who you booked your destination wedding through or with? We are thinking of going to Punta Cana for our destination wedding. Thanks for your time 🙂

We are having a Weddingmoon in Jamaica at the Couples Tower Isle (all inclusive couples/adults only resort). For 10 nights it cost us around $3400 including airfare for two leaving from BWI to Montego Bay.

We are flying out of locations all over Canada and the states the second week of jan going to the moon palace resort in cancun. Prices are ranging 1500-1800 plus 340 in taxes per person for 7 days. You can get cheaper rates in the spring, but at that point you are gambling with the weather and it didn’t seem like it was that much cheaper To be worth be worth having bad weather
