I’d second Newport.  Providence also would be convenient for your girls to get to via bus/train.  I know a girl who recently stayed in one of the rooms at The Dean Hotel that has bunkbeds (it’s a boutique hotel, so it’s nicer than it sounds) for her bachelorette, but they also have more traditional rooms with 2 queens, etc.

We went to Portland for my bachlorette party.. it was super fun! We found an 80’s booze cruise that left right off one of the piers downtown and we all dressed up in 80’s Madonna style dresses.. Portland has great bars and food!  There are a lot of little hotels in the area right downtown so everything is walkable and not too expensive.

Newport is actually really pricey. It’s a very affluent area. If you want an affordable option, I don’t think Newport is it. It may be cheaper in May, but I wouldnt think it would be that much cheaper. I had to cancel our reservations in Newport for last year but we were supposed to stay at the Hyatt Regency.

Monk6552:  I’ve actually never stayed in Newport. FI’s family has a beach house about 20 minutes from there, so we always stay there.

I’d think that in May, you’d probably be able to find a pretty good deal on Air BNB or something like that. It’s not quite beach/boating season yet, so I’d bet there are still some deals out there.

I vote Newport! Not just because it is my hometown and where my wedding is, but nothing compares! I recommend getting a hotel in Middletown RI it is five minutes to the beaches, and less than 10 to down town Newport! You can take a booze cruise, get some great food at Midtown Oyster Bar or the red parrot! The bars are all pretty great at night! And during the day the Newport hotel spas are wonderful, and did I mention the shopping on Thames street?! Feel free to ask any questions if you need a locals help!

heathern :  in the winter, I would only chose Newport if you are looking for something quieter and cosier rather than a wild bar scene. It’s gorgeous but lots of things shut down for the season. A visit of the Mansions (or at least those that will be open), a walk on the beach (might be chilly), a spa day, high tea at the Viking hotel? If that’s not what you are into, I would look into another location
