I wouldn’t recommend a bezel setting for a step cut stone- as you probably know, the light performance is different from brilliant faceted stones (round, princess, etc). Emeralds and asschers rely more on light entering the stone from the sides, so if you cover them them up with a bezel, the stone will look dark.

A good jeweler will definitely be able to set it with prongs- look around on yelp for someone who does custom work!

Try Brilliant Earth- I looked at their bezel settings when I got mine reset.

waitingforthering2:  I just had my emerald diamond custom made into a bezel setting and picked it up last night. The jeweler had to completely cut the bezel head to fit my stone and he did an amazing job considering the bezel head also has beading along all sides. I originally had a four prong setting which was not practical for wearing all the time…and I think that bezels frame the diamond showing it’s true beauty! Find a good jeweler and he should be able to come up with ideas for your diamond. Here’s mine. The picture quality isn’t great but it hopefully give you an idea of how it came out. I love it and you will love yours too!

vermonster:  Actually I find the sparkle to be just the opposite since a step cut catches light from the top which flashes off the surface of each step. I had mine in a prong set and it is now much more sparkly in the bezel 🙂

waitingforthering2:  Here is an example of how light bounces off the top of a step cut. The picture quality is not great but I hope that you can see how the diamond is lit up like a “flash light”…and in person there were different colors bouncing off all the steps in the cut.

I might be a little late but here’s mine in an 18k rose gold bezeled Harlow setting. Here are a couple of photos and a video of the ring under the natural light. http://youtu.be/QSyLWf_-M8g

Oh and it’s open underneath, so the light doesn’t have a problem getting in.

I have an emerald cut bezel! 😀 The light definitely enters in the top so it’s always sparkly and reflecting a ton of light.

It sits flush against my hand so no light gets in from the bottom or the sides and it still has it’s beautiful flashes of light. It never looks dark! I love the bezel because it’s so easy to wear and it doesn’t snag on anything and it feels really sturdy!
