I didn’t order online, but some of my bridesmaids live far away from the store we were getting the dresses through and she sent over a size chart which included how/where to measure to get the correct measurements. I have attached it.  The dresses were Bill Levkoff ( I am sure every place has a specific size chart though).

Hmmm…when I’ve had to do this before, I’ve gone into a bridal salon and asked them what size to order.  No one gave me a hassle.  Maybe it just depends on the store.  It helps if you kind of say it like you’re checking the dress out for friend across country, b/c it’s not entirely clear that you won’t buy it from them.

Otherwise the next best thing is to use their sizing chart, but it can be inaccurate (depending on cut of dress etc).  I know for a Jim Hjelm dress once, I completely fit one size, but my hips were a size bigger.  The woman at the salon told me in that cut it didn’t matter and I should go with the smaller size.  The dress fit perfectly and needed no alterations, so I was glad she told me that.

BTW, most tailors will be happy to measure you.  They may charge something like $5, but you’re probably still saving way more ordering online.  And most of the time they won’t even charget hat.

I still say go to a tailor.  They might charge a small amount, but they’re usually happy to do it (I’ve also done this before as a BM).
