Ok ladies. Here’s the deal. I bought a lace mermaid dress, cancelled the order, and have my heart set on a FITTED BUT FLOWY wedding dress.
Here are some dresses that I love, each with a feature that is gorgeous, but none of them have the whole package for me….
Firstly, I love the fit of the Jenny Packham Willow in the back. The way the dress hugs her hip/butt area and flares out underneath is exactly what I want. I have a good figure and don’t want it lost under a princess ballgown skirt, even though I am so attracted to that kind of style. I’m looking for a middle ground.
I LOVE The plain bodice of this dress. I am really attracted to styles that have a simple bodice and a different skirt….
Much like this one:
And this one (my original inspriation for this kind of dress):
The rest of these dresses I just really love the “feel” of them….
I had submitted a quote request to jasmine’s bridal, but between their busy schedule (I receive an email back about 5-10 days later each time), and the fact that I can’t find photos of each detail that I want (or maybe I can, there certainly are a lot of photos up there!!!) and the fact that they’re on their spring holiday break, and the fact that my wedding is at the very end of June (28th) it make sme really nervous.
That being said, I need to find a dress and make a decision, stat!
Help bees! Any suggestions of beautiful, flowy, but slightly fitted dresses that you’ve come across and recommend would be SO HELPFUL! I’m tired of stressing over a dress. 🙁

Check out BHLDN and JCrew. They are ready-to-wear, so they only take 1-2 weeks to come in. I’m not sure what your budget is, but that would leave time to alter a neckline or change the shape or something. These are some that I love:
i tried this one on and was in tears, but i didnt end up feeling bridal enough in it: http://www.bhldn.com/shop-the-bride-wedding-dresses/aiguille-gown/productoptionids/fbcaeb8b-b90b-4e9a-9313-32da085940dd
you mentioned having a nice figure, and the back of this dress, in person, is to die for. It’s straight up Angelina Jolie: http://www.bhldn.com/shop-the-bride-wedding-dresses/mickael-gown/productoptionids/fbcaeb8b-b90b-4e9a-9313-32da085940dd
this is really simple, but add a sash and a statement necklace and it’s amazing: http://www.jcrew.com/wedding/Wedding_Bride/gowns/PRDOVR~47605/47605.jsp’ defer=’defer
anyway, tons more on both sites, but maybe ready-to-wear and then adjusting it from there is the way to go. Good luck! 🙂

also, the dress that I ended up choosing is the Augusta Jones Marilyn. It’s an A-line, but you can definitely tell that I am shaped like the curvy size 4 that I am and it is amazing. I’m adjusting the neckline to a sweetheart.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rocky Mountains USA
This one is ridiculously beautiful. $550. It runs really big, like 2-3 sizes. They should have smal sizes coming in at the end of the month. I’m 5’5″, 122 lbs and a size 2 was a little too big on me… http://shop.tadashishoji.com/evening-shop/evening-gowns/beaded-crinkle-chiffon-gown-in-cream.html

- Wedding: September 2012 - Mother of the Bride's residence
Mine was the J. Crew Sophia, fitted on top but pretty flowy in the skirt. It was SO comfy! Lots of people thought I’d wear a fully fitted dress but this was seriously more comfortable than sweats.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies! I’ve checked all of them out, and a couple could be contendors. The problem is that I’m the kind of girl where once I get something in my head I become kind of obsessed with it and can’t see anything else. It’s horrible!
Also, I got an email from Jasmine’s bridal today telling me that they wouldn’t be able to make my dress on my timeline, so I’m kind of bummed. I’ve reached out to a couple of other US based dressmakers (a few of which are local) but the local prices are usually very high. 🙁
In any case, please keep the suggestions coming. I love looking at all the pretty dresses. 🙂

maybe something like this, but with less puff? I put the second pic so you can see how it goes dow ur butt to give you shape and show off your curves but not a complete mermaird dress.. sorry the pics are so big! Oh and not to self… the top pic was for bridal shoot… we noticed my dress needed a lil more alterations which got done for the big day!

How about a Saja dress? They have some beautiful, flowy dresses. I like this one..

@multinational: You have very similar tastes to me! I really like the Reem Acra – I am Beautiful, but I think the skirt may be a bit too A-Line for your tastes.
If you still want to have a dress made, Dressilyme is supposed to be good and they have a much faster time frame – about 1 -2 months. I got a quote for the dress above and it was under 300$, so maybe send them an email? If you do a search for dressilyme on the ‘bee, you can see lots of reviews.

I have very similar taste! I bought the dress in the first picture (Willow by Jenny Packham) last month. I had been looking at those pictures of it online everyday for about 3 months and knew that unless I tried in on, I would never be able to stop thinking about it. I finally found a store near me (well, a ferry ride away) that carried it and decided to go and try it. It was the first dress I tried on and it was even better than what I had expected – and my expectations were high! Of course I had to try on a few more after going all that way, but nothing even came close to comparing!

@ktcs: Thanks for sharing,
Do you have photos of you in the Willow?
