FI and I are DIYing double sided invites; one side will be in Cantonese and the other in English.

Thus far I've been using a online translator to create my Cantonese side but I really need someone to proofread it. I read/write next to little Chinese!!

I can always email a PDF to my brother and he can mark it up but then how do I then type it in??

If anyone is willing to proofread for me and know of a good program to then type up markups in the computer I would be so grateful!!

I'm using InDesign right now but can easily copy and paste text between programs.

    Thanks!

Eek! Online translations are usually pretty bad.

My mandarin is okay, but not great.

Are you running a mac or a pc? Windows and Mac operating systems come standard with Chinese langauge input options, it's just a matter of turning them on. Also, you then need to know the romanization of the characters you want to type... your brother could probably give you that as well as the characters. Or I could type it up for you if you sent me his corrections.

Send me a PM and I'll see what I can do to help you if no one more capable than me volunteers! :)

I know! Online translators are so horrible!! :( But at least it's a starting point.

I never did learn how to "type" out Chinese characters on the computer.

If you were able to do that I would SO grateful!!!

    Anyone else??

go ahead and send me a private message if you need my help - I'm really bad at checking back at threads. I can give you my email address if you need it.

I typed up my Chinese invitations in in Word using the NJ Star program. There's a free 30 day trial. Because I could read/write Chinese, it wasn't too hard to do. I'm getting really swamped as the wedding date approaches so I can't offer my help. Hope one of these ladies can help!

Not sure if you still need help, but I am available too. I'm fluent in Mandarin Chinese (traditional).

It'll be fantastic if a word doc template exists somewhere online for the wording. People will just have to change the names and dates. That would be so helpful :)

The thing is my invite wording is a little untraditional and I wanted the Chinese side to kinda match it so it's a bit...butchered. Hehe.

I just sent it to my brother last night but I'm not sure how he'll get it back to me modified because I don't think he knows how to use Word to type out Chinese characters.

    @ipodgirl,

    PM-ing you! thanks!

So do you have to individually enter each character to do it in the correct vertical format then?

My brother just sent me his modifications (he changed my wording waah) so it's more proper Chinese.

Trying to decide if I can fit it on my invite format/size vertically.

    Thanks!

    Hi Girls!

Just FYI I ended up using Indesign for my Chinese text as well. You can format your text boxes so that they run vertically. It was much easier than individually enter every single character.
