Someone else I know that lives in LA County did it online without any problem, and another one got the message you talked about.
However, someone took it to mean that you have 15 days to go in and get the licence.
I would call for clarification.
I believe I had to wait until two weeks before the marriage as well, with the LA county clerk. It's really not too late, to be honest. Yeah, it helps to have it be done early, but it really doesn't change much.
As Mrs. Lemon told me, go to the Beverly Hills Courthouse, if you can! It was totally empty when we went in.
Hi, I got the error message too. I think I just left the date blank to click through. A marriage license from LA is actually good for 90 days, if I remember correctly. We applied online about two weeks ago and just went in to pick it up on Friday. Our wedding is 3/29. I would DEFINITELY do it online though. The office opens at 8:30, we got in at 9 and walkeed right up to the front and just paid and got our license! Easy! If you didn't do the online application, you would have to sit there and wait an HOUR for the application to be processed. Anyway, goodluck. Oh, I went to the office by LAX.
I live in LA... and we're getting married in April. I got our marriage license last week. Its good for 90 days. We went into Beverly Hills Courthouse and the whole process took MAYBE 20 minutes. We came in with our form already filled out (I filled it out at home and brought it in), signed the necessary papers, waited to the side for about 15 minutes and it was done! There was one other couple there. The process was quick and easy. If you can, I suggest going there! I happen to be very close, so we both came home for extended lunch breaks, and the courthouse is down the street from us! Easy, and stress free..... :)
I heard that the Van Nuys office was really quiet, too.
My friend is getting married on May 18th and she got her licence last week!
Oh, I didn't put in the marriage date and it now lets me into the form! Thanks all!!
I just remembered that I had 15 days to pick UP the license, not 15 days from the wedding. Dur. :) I see it all worked out anyway!

Hi all, I have always heard that you should apply online to get your marriage license in LA and then go and pick it up to expedite the process. My wedding is in May and when I tried to apply online, the site is saying "The Difference Between Today's Date and Date of Marriage Should Not Be More Than 15 Days"!!! Does this mean I can't apply online until 2 weeks before my wedding??? That seems a little close to me. If I want to get it now and out of the way, should I just chance going to the office to fill out the form and wait hours for it? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
