After spending months looking for the perfect dress I have two options left.
The first is a Ronald Joyce Aline dress which is the sort of dress I always thought I’d go for. I love the long train but worry the position of the belt makes me look wider than I am on the hips and this is a size 16 so I’d have to order the size 10 without ever trying it on.
The second is a Sincerity mermaid dress. Its not something I saw myself in originally but i love the beading and shape but wish it had a slightly longer train. My mum also pointed out the two seams that run down the front saying they look like suspender lines and now that’s something I have to consider but I still love the dress. The dress in the photo is in alabaster so again id have to order it in ivory without ever trying it on.
Or do I keep looking (after 4 months, 12 shops and countless dresses I’m starting to think this is the closest I’ll get to perfection?)

The second dress is more trumpet than mermaid. I do like that dress better, but it sounds like neither are your dress from the way you talk about them, and both of them are super common styles. It seems that you could find something that is exactly what you want.

I love the second one but you don’t seem to thrilled about either. Keep looking until you’re crazy about one!

The second one is definitely more flattering in my opinion. As far as the issue with the seams down the front, I wouldn’t worry – I don’t think it looks like suspenders – and also, once the dress is made and fitted for you then that becomes a non issue….

laceandribbons: I like the first one more, but I think the waisband needs to be raised a tiny bit (maybe two inches).

You have such a great figure, you can wear anything! The second dress is more flattering but it’s hard to know if the first one would hit in a better spot if it were the right size. You can obviously alter it as you mentioned.
But, it seems like you might need one more trip out there to make up your mind, focusing on trumpet or mermaid and an aline that hits at the natural waist.

The second one looks amazing on you!!!

The second one flatters your body more, BUT I’m sure you can find an A line with a higher (more flattering) belt! If you’ve always seen yourself in an A line with a train, go for it! You look great.
