My husband and I married at a courthouse5 years ago due to we needed to add his children to my insurance because of a medical emergency. My children were very disappointed that we “eloped” without their knowledge. They have suggested on several occasions that we do it right. Our biggest disappointed in the courthouse is that the whole proceding was just like obtaining a Driver’s license. We filled out the application, the clerk had 2 people sign and she handed us back our marriage certificate and said we were married. We did not say any vows.
We are thinking about having the actual ceremony, but what would you suggest we call it? It’s not a renewal of vows, because the vows were not taken. Any suggestions?

Just call it your wedding! You haven’t had one yet…all you have is a signed paper, so you are now getting “married”! 🙂

I agree with PP. Call it your wedding. 🙂

When my grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and did a vow renewal, they still called it a wedding! 🙂 .. So feel free to call yours that as well. I think it’s very sweet.

I agree with pp and say it’s your WEDDING b/c…
you did NOT have a ceremony or a dress or an aisle or music or everyone stand when you came it or ANYTHING so for sure it’s a WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
